Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

Seemed unusual to me that they released the batch of 3 choices on a Saturday (I say this with no knowledge of past years or really anything specialized about college admissions :joy:), so makes more sense to me that decisions will be released on a weekday. Thank you for your encouragement and talking us all off a ledge. When talking to my son about it, I try to just be encouraging and not lament about the wait as I’m sure he’s thinking about it himself a lot (he’s a laidback kid who doesn’t get worked up about it). I’m grateful someone pointed us to this page because it’s been really helpful as we help guide him through the process. :+1:t2:

Most folks whose kid attends a suburban HS think their kid goes to a “competitive HS”. In reality, most don’t know what competitive truly is. A&M does know.

I think you’re spot on…and they ARE competitive. They’re not wrong there. My kid has almost 900 in his graduating class. Getting to Top 90 at any school is tough. Throw in when it’s less than 10% Eco/Dis, and it’s a tough task. Parents in these situations aren’t wrong…it is highly competitive.

But there’s a whole, whole bunch of these in the state. The pretending it’s some sort of unicorn is the logical fallacy.

Just wait until the Republicans pass vouchers and everyone in the suburbs can afford to start a small charter school/ home school and gets in the top 6%/ 10%. Talk about competitive. :zipper_mouth_face:

Is there a graph/chart or something that will explain to me (like i’m a 5 year old) all of the pathway options?

Link to all pathways (not just PSA)

I know that many people on here are desperate for their kid to attend TAMU in College Station. I am too  But I keep reminding myself that it’s a good school but freshman intro classes can have 1000 kids. Is that really something to desire?! Maybe PSA at a smaller school, with more personalized attention would be a good thing! Of course we will keep checking for 7 tabs constantly, but the first year college experience may be just as rewarding (maybe even more so) at TAMU CC.

That first year will fly by as well. I love your perspective. I have heard nothing but great things about Tamu CC

Is anyone here attending Discover Aggieland mid-February? Has anyone attended before? We haven’t seen the itinerary yet but we are looking forward to it! Is it similar to an Aggieland Saturday event? We arrive on a Sunday and it ends Tuesday morning.

Does anyone know if the Aggieland event is an open house style event or do you need to attend the whole day?

Is there a guaranteed pathway for TEAM for Kinesiology Motor Behavior or BIMS?

Have you reviewed the team Tamu page? It talks about change of major requirements. None are necessarily guaranteed but you’ll work with an advisor to transitions seamlessly if possible.

Aggieland Saturday is come and go at all of the sessions. Last year we arrived at the session for Mays a few minutes before it started and it was already standing room only. You really have to prioritize what you want to see.

You do need to register for Aggieland Saturday.

@martinezcs didn’t y’all attend Discover Aggieland?

Does anyone know when the Opportunity Major offers typically go out?

Last year was the first time. I believe it was mid to late feb but I’m not sure.

What is the difference between those 2 events?

Thanks @Christi1993 - I didn’t realize last year was the first year. My step-son is still waiting on an admission decision. His stats are less than stellar (3.6 unweighted GPA, 2nd quarter, test-optional, decent activities) so I figured we are waiting on PSA or an outright rejection since we haven’t heard anything by now. His first choice major is Ecology and Conservation Biology and I saw that was on the list of Opportunity Majors from last year. Am I just dreaming that he might still have an opportunity for full admission with this OM program?

I know someone that received opportunity major option on Jan 30th
