Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

What is temporary housing and is that sign that we should be worried if we will get accepted or not if we picked team only option?

My sophomore year (1994-1995), the dorms at A&M were overbooked (or whatever they called it then). I lived in Neeley (modular) so they put 3 freshman girls in some of the rooms instead of 2. Some girls moved off campus in the spring, so pretty much everyone I knew ended up in a 2 person room that semester. It all worked out, and my friends said it wasn’t bad. They preferred that to living off campus. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for this info. She will be so happy to hear that! She does not want a room in a dorm with a bathroom shared by all the girls in the hallway. I’m not sure what that arrangement is called. But if that is the only choice, she will take it.

That is good to know. I think we get a little obsessed checking it multiple times a day. :joy::woman_facepalming:t2:

Yes, thank goodness!

Still no seven tabs. Maybe tomorrow morning

No. Just means that if this is true… IF… then
More students are wanting to stay on campus than usual and those being admitted now may get temp housing until perm is available. At some point there will be a housing waitlist.

Usually temp housing happens later than this. So who knows if this is accurate info

Do you think that there were more people that were given the options and selected team only this year to the point where they might not give team to everyone who selected team only option? Just worried that even though I picked team only Saturday morning last week that I might not get it.

Honestly no way to tell but my guess is no. They have algorithms for amount they send out, % of what those peeps choose, etc.

Try not to stress out too much right now. Doubtful there will be any tabs tomorrow. I’m guessing Monday or Tuesday we’ll see some positive actions.

I’d be worried more about the “too many options sent out” thing if anyone at all who picked any option was reporting admission. All crickets.

Can I ask which forum you’re seeing the temp housing posts on?

Does TEAB offer scholarships? or can I apply for scholarship and how?

@wohoo1 did you submit A&M scholarship application when applying to TAMU? That’s the only way to apply for incoming freshman university scholarships; deadline was Dec 1.

I wouldn’t expect TEAB students to get scholarships, unless maybe from Century Scholar schools (ask your guidance counselor, if you aren’t sure about your school).

Your best bet is outside/local scholarships.

My son (class of 2022) got PSA and went to WTAMU. He could’ve transferred to to A&M this fall but loved WTAMU so much he stayed. In order to transfer to A&M he had to major in Environmental Science and he really wanted to study Wildlife Biology so that is part of it, but WTAMU is a great school and I great foundation for the first year before transferring to College Station.

Yes it defiantly hurts and I don’t know why they can’t be honest about it.

Your etam list is amazing and eye opening! Thank you very much! My son planned on going mechanical, aerospace, chemical or electrical whichever opened to him. He also contacted math department with the email you forwarded to apply double major in Math. He received a response just this morning and very excited about the opportunity.

He registered June20-21 NSC because he has a math competition on June 10th. He paid the housing deposit this morning. I hope he can stay in an engineering dorm he is so layback if he live off campus he may hole up in his room everyday!

That’s great news! And surprisingly fast response.

Yes, minor in Math only need engineering advisor approval, in your son’s case, he already have the knowledge of 12 out of the 16 hours so minor in math is more for non-STEM students. Double major in Math require math department review and approval, and I have no doubt your son will get what he aims for. Since your son has advanced math, make sure he check “student work/employment” in Howdy Financial Aid, and also let math department know he is willing to work as TA. He won’t be getting TA as freshmen Fall semester, but likely will get the job in Spring 2025 (and he gets to hang around math department more).

I spoke to someone from the AO and they told me that they basically review the applications again and sort them based on the option the applicant chose and the competitiveness of the application for the people who received the options, and that they make their decisions in that order so even if we chose super early Saturday morning, we could be at the very bottom of the list if the other people who are in our category have a much more competitive application. Have you happened to hear about this? Also, do you know if the people who chose the waitlist and team both option get to be in both pools or would they be in the waitlist pool first and if they don’t get past the waitlist, then they get put into the team only pool?

Based on prior cycles? It appears if you choose both, they review first
For full admit. Again… this could be different this year but… all I can tell you is how this played out the last 3-4 years.
