Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

Check out Park West. It’s TAMU system owned. Great parking (garage or ground level). There’s a high rise with roof top pool and workout facilities. There’s also a little coffee shop and maybe a tiny market (can’t remember). Then there are also their Flats that are totally apartment style.

Great location. Fully furnished. New within the past 7 years. Walk to Reed arena/baseball fields, the rec, Brookshire’s market. All the things.

Same for us. Applied political science in early October. Maybe they haven’t gotten to all the applications.

Yes, I did.

I’m hoping Bush School is still doing full admits, since they started so late. What are your stats?

Lots of students attend TAMU on pathways! He can still be excited about his future and become even more motivated to get there! If he does PTA or PSA if his major aligns, he will be applying to transfer by January first and at CSTAT after two semesters. It flies by too! He will find his way. Enjoy the journey and your visit to TAMU!

Check the engineering transfer page… they seem to be at a disadvantage of the college they are attending has their major of interest.

Here is the transfer sheet for CE: that info is listed under additional information.

Each engineering degree has a course transfer sheet. They can be found here:

Oooh! Thanks for that information. We will look around.

Thank you so much for this recommendation. Wow, can I live there?!! :joy:

3.8/4.6
1st quartile
Lots of extracurriculars and community service. My daughter submitted the application. I haven’t looked at it or her portal. She would love Bush but we have options. It’s all or nothing for her. We will not do pathways. Too many other good schools:))

I have very similar stats and I also got ranked first quarter with lots of good extracurriculars, community service, and internships. Yeah, I will not be doing any pathways, because I also have some good options, but would’ve loved to stay at TAMU. I wonder if I should call and ask if Bush School is done doing full admits. It would seem unlikely since they just started admitting mid Jan.

I completed Phase II of the housing application, and I decided to apply for the Engineering Village LLC. I thought it would be a good idea to stay with other engineers and the potential academic opportunities, but after some further reading and reserach, I found out that I don’t really wanna be a part of an LLC, especially Engineering. I would have to share a bathroom with 3 other people as opposed to just one, there is no social scene in the dorms (which I want as I want to try and make friends), and overall there are so many resources, especially for engineers, that you don’t really need an LLC.

Now, I emailed the resident life department, and hopefully they get back to me soon, but my question is, can I back out of an LLC now that I changed my mind? Will it harm my standing in the housing process (move me to the back of the line)? And, if I am entered in the LLC, can I back out of the LLC, maybe prior to enrollment and start of the next term?

@HowBoutDemBoyz honestly I’d stick with LLC. You can have tutoring available 24/7, not to mention roomies will all be Engineering-that can be to your benefit!

There is no ‘social scene’ in the other dorms. My Aggie was in Hullabaloo, and loved it! She was fortunate to have really great kids on her hall, but that’s rare. Most never even know who their next door neighbor is. I blame that on technology. Doors stay closed, there’s very little hall or dorm ‘socializing’.

At this point, you are VERY far down the dorm selection list, like almost dead last. Unless you can ‘match’ with a roomie that has a VERY high selection date, pretty much ‘Dirty Dunn’ or maybe White Creek will be open. You are better off with Engineering Village/LLC. Great location on campus, close to Dining Hall.

And yes, if you back out it LLC, you do get bumped to the bottom of the list. Stay put in LLC.

My son applied last week for housing. He has now completed both phase 1 and 2. It says he is guaranteed housing however it might be “temporary”. I feel he is lucky not to be on the waitlist and happy he will have an opportunity to live on campus. I doubt the residence dept will be able to grant any requests at this point even LLC but I’m just a parent and no expert on the matter.

@Lavalocks19 agree :100: with @Christi1993 … look at Park West! Brookshire Brothers opened in the last year 1/2 onsite, there’s like 5 bus stops, walkable to all athletic venues.

It is also strictly A&M and Blinn students, because it is located on A&M owned land. No other off-site housing can discriminate like that. Callaway, and all other off site places, have to accept ANYONE that pays deposit.

But do NOT pay deposit anywhere off campus, until absolutely certain student will live there…NO backing out of a 12 month lease.

@99AnscAggie if it were my kid, I’d stick with direct CompSci admit at UTD. Fantastic program, newer, nicer dorms and you can’t beat direct admit!

Why do you think Bush school just started admissions in January. Admissions office is the only one that makes any admission decision… not the actual college/major/dept. To my knowledge, they don’t hold decisions by major (within admissions dept.). That would be interesting.

That’s what we are thinking too. He really wants to be an Aggie like his mama but his best path forward does look to be UTD

Just because even when I called the admissions office in December they said Bush School applications were j starting to get reviewed
