Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

Yes, she lost the change major button. Its so tough because her twin sister got in back in October and she has just been waiting… and now this probable bad news. Heartbreaking

I am so sorry :broken_heart: But yes, it won’t be favorable…either PSA or straight rejection.

Other twin wants Nursing, correct? Incredibly tough to get into A&M Nursing, probably a ‘needle in a haystack’ to get into A&M Nursing starting out PSA. I COULD BE WRONG but A&M Nursing prefers pre-reqs taken IN Brazos County. So a PSA school will make it Even Tougher to attempt A&M Nursing. Just being honest, and it would be a shame to waste a year…

Thank you! Yes, Texas Tech is probably the best place for her and nursing. But she is concerned it is too far away and now she is saying she is not sure about nursing :woman_facepalming:t2:
She was saying she would probably just get the public health degree (or something else) if she got PSA and decided to go that route. And then go to nursing school elsewhere. But i told her that would be a lot of added school loans …she’s always just wanted to be an Aggie
I was hoping for Blinn Team
We are visiting Tech in 2 weeks…maybe shell’ll fall in love with it.

We have family all over West Texas, so I’ve made the 7-9 hour drive for YEARS. I get it.

BUT, to be a true, well rounded, fully engaged college student, they need to be at school. You definitely don’t want them coming home every weekend. And maybe it’s a great time for the twins to ‘spread their wings’ and go their own ways?
We know triplets who just started college-3 different schools/2 different states-and it has been THE BEST thing for them!

Tech is great! Surprisingly beautiful campus, strong athletics, great pre-med/nursing, laid back atmosphere, no humidity and you can’t beat West Texas sunsets! Hoping the campus visit opens eyes, and she falls in love!

Question for those who applied to both CS and Galveston. The Galveston application was completed on Apply Texas on Friday morning. I can see both the CS and the Galveston application in Howdy under manage applications. But in AIS, only the CS application is there. On the Galveston application in the Howdy portal, it says the application is incomplete. Is this just because it takes a few days to process and show up in AIS? I don’t want to worry if that is the case, but if it really is incomplete, then I’d like to remedy whatever is missing ASAP.

I think Galveston requires a HS transcript sent from the HS. They don’t do the SRAR. Have you requested it to be sent?

My son was offered PSA but is considering the RELLIS route instead through TAMU Commerce for their BS Cybersecurity degree since main campus only offers it as a minor. He thinks he might go for a masters since that is an option down the road. We are visiting RELLIS tomorrow and will hopefully get more information. He was accepted into UTSA’s BS Cybersecurity program a month ago, but would prefer to be in CSTAT.

Just to clarify that when he was first researching Cybersecurity majors, he realized TAMU only offered it as a minor so he chose mathematics as his major…but got PSA instead…

Keep up posted on RELLIS campus tour. Weather should be ideal!

I would still look at rankings-UTSA, UTD and A&M Commerce-for Cybersecurity. No comparison.

RELLIS campus doesn’t have housing, no dining hall (I think there’s a place to get sub sandwiches-that’s it) and pretty remote location. Total commuter campus. Only ‘clubs’ are a handful of major specific, doesn’t look like anything even closely related to cybersecurity. Definitely not the typical college experience.
Four years of that would get old (IMO).

Good to know! It looks like the high school counselor sent everything out on Friday so hopefully it will update soon!

I’m so sorry!

Sorry he didn’t receive what he wanted… initially. Nothing to say that he can’t start out at Rellis(Blinn) for classes then apply to transfer at some point. Rellis is one or two buildings for students (there are other buildings but those are for some companies like TTI. The drive is literally 10 minutes to Aggie campus straight shot on hwy 47. He can live off campus near tamu if that’s what he wants or there’s housing along wellborn road towards Bryan and a little closer to Rellis. Tons of student housing for Blinn/Rellis/TAMU students in that area.

He’ll apply to the Commerce, but he’ll be dual enrolled. Lower level courses will be Blinn at the rellis campus.

Appreciate your response. He’s very familiar with BCS because of his Aggie older sister who’s graduating in May with a BS Applied Mathematics degree. She lives at Park West, so he likes the idea of potentially living there as well. We have talked about the possibility of transferring over to main campus at some point if he maintains a solid GPA and really wants to be an Aggie…not sure what he would major in but reality is some kids change their mind about what they want to pursue after they get settled, and we’re willing to accommodate that, within reason. He has an older brother at UTD and was accepted there soon after he applied, but he isn’t as excited about that opportunity, but he would have his big brother around to show him the ropes. I personally think the PSA opportunity can be a good one, but it really depends on what he feels is the right career path for him and his willingness to be flexible.

@Scutr1 is he looking at PSA at A&M Commerce OR attending RELLIS campus via A&M Commerce?
Two separate things.

Correct me if I’m wrong @Christi1993 , but doesn’t PSA require attending the actual campus-like, live in Commerce for a year?

I could absolutely be misunderstanding what you’re saying, @Scutr1

I still say…hard to pass up direct admit to UTD CompSci or UTSA Cybersecurity…

I believe she meant taking rellis route instead of psa. But that she thinks psa is also a good route depending on aspirations.

How did you check to see what schools were listed? Our daughter also got PSA, but I couldn’t figure out where to see the listed schools. I’m guessing you have to accept the offer to see that??

Yes, that’s what I meant. My apologies…I’m multitasking (badly) at the moment. He’s interested in the Commerce-RELLIS route for his CySec degree interest but also wants to be an Aggie one day, hence the PSA route (but obviously having to choose a different major). Reality is deciding which is more marketable down the road…the degree choice or the university choice. Unfortunately, really can’t be both based on the circumstances. He can potentially transfer into TAMU, but would still have to change majors since CySec isn’t offered there. Maybe that makes more sense.

Hi Christi! Any idea when the 3 options group will hear something? Some people who went to Aggieland Saturday heard it may not be until March. I’m not sure if that was a miscommunication or not. Praying here!

My son clicked on the link and could see all of the system schools that he could choose from…in his case, all were listed. There’s no commitment at that point.
