Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

I think there are two students on Reddit who got the three options this weekend! I’m hoping that means that there is still space on TEAM?!? Is this good news for applicants who selected TEAM only about two weeks ago?!! I really hope so!!

Playing around with the Office of Academic and Business Performance Analytics’s website, here is what I think is the breakdown of just U1 Engineering students in Galveston. This current academic year, there are 78 female freshmen and 397 male freshmen.

One point I see in the facebook galveston parents group that is kind of important. Let’s say a freshman successfully completes his or her first two semesters and is eligible to apply for ETAM. The results come out in July. That’s too late to find on campus housing in College Station for the fall. That’s really late to find a lot of good options for off campus housing in BCS. If parents are on top of things, they could keep notes of where good options or good real estate agents who can help ease the stress of finding a place to live.

Great info, @rowell2024 , and exactly what I would want to know, if I had a daughter, @Abigail_Anderson

I figured the ETAM timeline would also not work in favor of change of canpus.
There IS plenty of off campus housing-and most upperclassmen DO live off campus.

There is no Greek life at TAMUG, no Women’s orgs that will transfer. So from a social aspect, that’s worth noting.

Thanks! I have a son, so I want to know, too. It’s not (how does Maverick put it) a target-rich environment.

Last three years total enrollment on Galveston hovered around 980. Last year 28% were female.

Transition to main campus rule is at the bottom of page Policies & Procedures - Texas A&M Galveston, TX They do carry some priority.

Engineering at Galveston when offered, goes through the same ETAM as main campus students.

A lot of main campus dorm students choose to move out of dorm (better food, prefer cooking, private bathroom, friends, much cheaper…) Only 22% students live on campus or university operated dorms.

Sadly the more she reads about TAMUG the more she is thinking it is not a good fit. Would much rather have been given the three options. Not the freshman experience she was hoping for. Thanks so much for everyone’s info!!

I saw the same 2 Reddit posters and their majors were Geology and English. I think @FriscoDad posted something a couple weeks ago about the Rellis campus having more buildings. If so, is it possible this is why we’re seeing another round of ‘Options’ going out? Also, are there stats anywhere on how many TEAM students are accepted/enrolled each year by Major?

@TXMomLife are you asking about incoming freshman TEAM students, or TEAM students who successfully change majors after they fulfill requirements?

She has until 5/1 to accept or decline the offer. Aggieland Saturday by the Sea is coming up on 2/24. It might be worth checking out.

Incoming freshman admitted to TEAM.

Incoming freshman who have accepted Blinn TEAM enter as Blinn TEAM majors. That’s literally what’s listed as their major in Aggie Directory. They aren’t admitted by major.

I’m sure Admissions keeps stats-somewhere-about 1st and 2nd choice majors initially selected-but it’s not like TEAM admits are ‘overflow Mays or Viz’ students.

Ah ok. It would be interesting to see the breakdown of freshman Fall application results by Major. # of total applications vs acceptances vs enrollment (top 10% vs not top 10%), TEAM, TEAB, TAMUG, Gateway, PSA, etc.
Specifically, I was trying to wrap my head around how many students are offered/enrolled in TEAM and is that figure trending upwards (possibly) because the Rellis campus is expanding?

As far as Galveston goes, my son was there for a year. It is true that there is no rush for fraternities or sororities, but the Galveston kids rushed their first semester in CS. Galveston does have freshman leadership organizations, and my son was in one of those. He also did intermural sports. As far as housing goes, they had a meeting with the kids that were going through ETAM last spring to talk to them about dorm and housing options at CS in the fall. I think they get the same priority as CS students who are already living in a dorm freshman year because my son came away with the impression that it would not be a problem for him to get a dorm sophomore year if he wanted one. However, he and some friends that he met in Galveston signed a lease for a CS apartment in December or January. They were all very strong students and had A’s and B’s in all their classes, so they were confident they would be able to ETAM in the spring and they all did. This is very risky for many kids though because there were several kids that failed classes and if that happens, you cannot apply for ETAM until you have at least a C in the required classes. If you sign a CS lease, you cannot get out of it. With all of this said, the experience at Galveston from a student life perspective is totally different than at CS. If your daughter wants a traditional big school college experience, then Galveston is probably not the right fit.

@TXMomLife the RELLIS campus is MUCH more, then just Blinn TEAM classes taken-that’s a small component of RELLIS.
Students can earn 4 year degrees at RELLIS, from A&M system schools, plus RELLIS offers research, technology and more!

My daughter’s Howdy portal just changed to
“Log into AIS to view decision”. Do you think this is going to be PSA or an outright rejection?

Let us know what it says!

It still says in Review on AIS? Anyone know how long it takes to update in AIS so she can view the decision?

I’ve heard a few hours up to 1 day to see what the response. I went to Reddit to learn more about your post, and the common opinion is PSA. I emphasize opinion because I have no clue who to trust there.

@DSL1 does student still have ‘Change Major’ button? When buttons are lost, that’s not good…

If she lost her change of major button it usually means PSA is coming. :pensive:
