How do you get groceries if you live off campus and don’t have a car? Uber?

A&M has a great bus system! One route goes to
H-E-B. You definitely do NOT want to live anywhere that isn’t right on the bus line, close to a stop.

There are also plenty of Uber/Lyft available, H-E-B curbside $5 delivery (within a close proximity).

Insta cart and DoorDash as well.

There are some apartments where you can walk to HEB grocery (that store is a college student’s dream…also my dream, I live in a location with no HEB). There is also Park West which has a serviceable grocery store adjacent. Other places can schedule HEB delivery, too. Also, Texans tend to have cars, make friends with someone who has a car!

I have a car, but my parents have Walmart+ and I sometimes have them deliver to my apartment.

My Aggie rides the bus to the stores and sometimes she uses HEB delivery. They have delivery zones around campus. Her delivery zone is right outside her dorm building. She is a sophomore and hasn’t taken her car freshman year or sophomore year. She leaves it at home. Her little brother is currently learning to drive on it! :grinning:

Crickets here.

“loud” crickets here  at this point with all on campus housing gone, not sure what to do for the Blinn Team students. I just think it’s better for freshman to live on campus since it’s the first time away from home.

I really appreciate the Blinn Team program but part of the appeal is that you are supposed to be able to live on campus. Now this group who received 3 options may not get that chance. I still appreciate the opportunity and understand that the others had higher stats and deserve better housing options but I think in past years it seemed decisions were out early enough to get on campus. Praying for decisions soon!

Is it really full, or just full at the moment because renewals aren’t done yet for current students?

Still waiting here and hoping for a spot on TEAM and a dorm room. But….the apartments in Northgate are very close and much nicer than a dorm. Even if she lives off campus, I am hoping that my daughter can still have a traditional first-year experience. She can still take college-level classes, join a sorority, go to games, etc. And to be honest, she has her own bathroom here at home. I’m not sure how well she would do sharing a bathroom with two or three other women . So I’m trying to stay positive!! Trying….

There are a lot of very nice apartments around campus. I think a lot are better than other colleges we have seen.

As soon as we get confirmation that my son got TEAM, we are driving up to CS from Houston to check out apartments. Park West is on our list. Any others we should look at? Big bro lived in Hullabaloo, so that’s all we know. We want as close to dorm experience as possible.
PRAYING we get some answers this week!

@Lavalocks19 we are planning on doing the same, we are from Houston as well.

My daughter was Blinn Team 2022-2023 and she chose to live at Park West(own bedroom and bathroom) her Freshman year. She did not lose out on anything not living in the dorm. Park West is across the street, grocery store next door and she joined an org. She took the shuttle to her classes at A&M and drove to Rellis. She had a great experience.

We are looking at Park West too, if we get in for TEAM. I contacted them the other day and they said they should be full by the end of the month. That worries me…please… please…please have 7 tabs tomorrow.
