Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

There is a kid in my son’s class that was offered TEAM, not TEAB. I have read on Reddit kids that have gotten TEAM in January. This could be a case of me taking few data points and making it bigger than it is for sure.

Yes straight team offers already went out. Now we are waiting on those that got the 3 options who chose team, to be notified.

I wouldn’t say it’s a waitlist for team. Just taking forever to hear.

It kind of feels like it’s a waitlist of sorts though - like them waiting to know if there is room!

Or like me waiting on the list to be relased.

I think your assessment is sound. I’d describe it as everyone who got three options is in a line for Space Mountain. Some people are going to have a fast pass, some will wait 3 hours, some will be told to leave when it’s closing time and some people are going to take their screaming toddlers out and give up their spot. You won’t know how far away you are from the front of the line until you actually see the ride. Disney, like A&M, has a pretty good idea of how many people they can let through, but there are a lot of variables like broken components and VIPs and screaming toddlers that can gum up the works, so there will always be people at the end of the line who sacrificed 3 hours to wait for nothing. Disney, like A&M, knows that there will always be more people who want to ride Space Mountain, and so they have no business reason to change the number of spots that they can offer a day.

My Nephew was offered straight Blinn he accepted and within 2 days got his acceptance email, but he is engineering. And my daughter got the 3 options Non engineering and now still waiting. its really making no sense!

@sh2377 if he’s Engineering, he was offered TEAB, as Engineering isn’t offered thru Blinn TEAM.
Two totally different pathways.

“Straight TEAM offers” went out in January. My daughter got 7 tabs on Jan 17. This was not an option sent via AIS or email. We literally woke up and saw Blinn TEAM as the major within Howdy after she saw 7 tabs. Got her AIS updated and letter, banner etc days after that. She did not do anything other than apply to Texas A&M. The “options” I think were sent out/showed up in AIS in mid-February and some people selected “TEAM-only”. These folks are still patiently waiting for an answer and appears to be taking a lot longer than previous years to hear back. I am agonizing for all those still waiting. This is such a supportive group of parents and kids that I check in every day to hopefully see a bunch of new admissions. Sincerely praying for answers soon for everyone because A&M would be lucky to have your families as part of the Class of 2028!

Does anyone know, approximately how many students were given 3 options at the end of January and are still waiting?

What do you mean by straight TEAM have already gone out? I thought everyone who chose TEAM only are still waiting?

Many people were given TEAM prior to those that were given the choices. My understanding is that those that were “offered the 3 choices” actually have higher stats and would have been direct admit but there were not seats in their majors. So they have the choice of TEAM or waitlist. Those that were offered TEAM initially may not have met criteria for direct admit.

TEAM is an offer that TAMU gives and many were given straight TEAM meaning they didn’t get the chance to “choose”. IT’s team or nothing for them.

The ones that got the options, are ALL still waiting.

The part regarding the 3 options having higher stats doesn’t add up. Those people offered straight team are now Aggies via Team Blinn. This other group with the alleged “higher stats” are still waiting. Many of those waiting chose Team Only. Their only choice could potentially be already filled with students who had lower stats leaving those with higher stats with nothing? That doesn’t add up. Seems like none of us really knows what’s going on this year. :frowning:

It doesn’t make sense to me either but it seems like most, not all, who got straight Blinn in January or Gateway had similar or slightly lower stats than the 3 options group. I also saw some PSA’s with higher stats. That’s why I thought some decisions may be related to majors. I don’t think admissions was trying to put the three options group in a bad position but some of us kind of are. My daughter wanted to be on campus. Also now we need to consider visiting another back up school that probably will cost around $1,000.00 in travel expenses. I am still grateful that we still have a chance though.

Gateway offers have definitely been offered to those with lower stats but show great potential through activities, awards, essays etc. the students we know who received Gateway were in the 2nd quartile or lower with much lower SAT scores than those that received the 3 options. Perfect example of how holistic reviews open up great opportunities for those that may have struggled academically at some point but have shown growth and perseverance!
