It still adds up to me. They were put in that bucket because they could only get Team. Those that recd options had/have the chance to get team and full admit. Everyone is panicking because the timing is off but not a single person who chose team only has been given a decision.
Will it impact housing. Yes. And that’s unfortunate and maybe AO didn’t think that part through when they changed up the releasing of decisions for team only.
This cycle is…. different. My daughter’s friend is 11% at their large, competitive high school. Like my daughter, offered the three options. Applied for communications I think. She has good EC’s but went test optional. She’s still waiting like my daughter.
The test optional is the killer in all of this I feel. My (3 options) son is high top quarter 3.73/4 at small private college prep school. Has all the other good stuff people talk about including 4 sport varsity athlete and an internship in major… but TEST OPTIONAL. It’s the killer. He has merit everywhere else…
As to the Gateway people that I know of, they all had high scores but low GPA. We all have our own data points for this nonsense… hopefully we hear soon.
On Reddit seeing transfer kids getting their tabs today. I feel like crying with frustration!! Why have the option kids not heard anything yet?!!! All the housing close to campus will fill up. Ugh!!! Transfers who applied in January.
and I think “decent” at tamu is pretty low, so it wouldn’t hurt MOST kids to submit after all. A kid with his GPA at his school got in back in october with an 1150.
Yes… transfer students got their 7 tabs this morning. Pretty early to hear for them. Usually it’s mid March or later, but AO just took over admissions for transfers last year, so their plate is full and I’m assuming they are focusing on what group at a time (Full, Pathways, PSA, Transfers, next… Options??). Let’s hope.
As for housing near campus… THERE are SOOOOO many options and Cstat is a small town. Even those that aren’t walkable are shuttle close. Do not let the housing part give you anxiety. Trust me I live here and the amount of over the top cool college vibe living options is insane.
Christi thanks for clarifying some things. I am wondering if the delayed decision is from not enough students withdrawing their applications due to the FAFSA delay, or if admissions is wanting students to stop selecting Blinn only to increase their chances for getting in. Possibly it’s a combo of both.
It seems like the ones who got options are being treated as waitlist because everyone else seems to have received a decision one way or the other. Unable to make sense of anything at this point.
Thank you!! I would really like to find something in the Northgate area so my daughter can walk to campus. Hopefully that will still be an option when we hear back.
My daughter is starting to really consider her back-up plan. If she doesn’t get Blinn Team, she’s thinking of going straight to Blinn. Is there an advantage? Or could she go to any community college, and have the same chances to transfer?
