Needed that today! You keep us from pulling our hair out

There is a program called PTA that is a partnership between any Texas community college and TAMU. I don’t know all the details, but it is something we may also investigate!

PTA is a great option. Can’t do anything til after graduation. Let me know if y’all have any questions about it.

I have a couple of questions regarding PTA just for my personal knowledge.

  1. When they say you can’t participate until after graduation, would we go to the Aggieland Admissions Center in the end of May or early June to discuss and finalize PTA with an advisor?
  2. Is it guaranteed admission if the requirements are met, and is it a contractual agreement?
  3. Can PTA courses be taken at RELLIS through the Blinn Community College in College Station?
  4. By providing proof of graduation, would you show them your diploma/certificate or your final HS transcript?
  5. Would you still have to apply with a transfer application in the Spring of 2025?

Would it be more difficult to get a bid to a sorority being on Blinn-TEAM? Im just wondering if they look down on that

I would like to know that also. I am hoping they wouldn’t know and wouldn’t ask. I spoke with someone in a sorority during our campus tour about rushing as a Sophomore because I don’t know if my daughter will rush this year. Traditionally it can be harder to rush as a Sophomore but she said it wasn’t like that at TAMU. It may make sense with PSA transfers that come in as Sophomores. Hopefully Blinn Tean won’t be an issue.

Nobody will know your student is BlinnTeam unless they tell them. They are an A&M student with an A&M ID. Tell them not to worry

To be fair, my student won’t even know they’re TEAM at this rate…:sunglasses:

@Gillian28 and @MMel students entering as Blinn TEAM are listed in the student directory as ‘Blinn TEAM’ major…so yes, students will know, but rarely matters. Doubt many will bother to look it up in Aggie Directory.
But for joining clubs, going thru sorority rush, etc, they will need to list their major…which is Blinn TEAM.

Rushing as a freshman, it won’t matter if they’re TEAM. Rushing as a sophomore can be more difficult-whether a transfer or they just decided to wait. They need a high gpa (sororities pride themselves on strong gpa) and ideally they would want to know actives in houses…otherwise you just get ‘lost’ in the mix of thousands going thru.
Harder, but not impossible.

Yes you would meet with advisor after graduation. I’m assuming you could meet with regional advisor.

It is a contact and you are guaranteed admission if you complete the requirements. As far as contractual… if you decide for some reason like you didn’t complete requirements but still viable candidate, you can go straight transfer but no guarantees. Also not sure if you are bound by a major once you start. Not all majors participate so keep that in mind.

You apply AFTER you complete requirements but you don’t have the deadline in the spring for fall admission like a straight transfer. If you make your requirements in spring, you turn in your stuff in May and then accepted for fall admission.

Not sure you can attend rellis campus as home campus but blinn Bryan would probably be the home campus and it may be possible to take courses at rellis. Will depend on seats available in class. It didn’t use to matter but now it’s grown (a lot) in popularity for the system schools.

High school transcript should suffice.

Agree 100%. My kiddo was blinn team and didn’t have a problem with it during recruitment. The way I have heard is that in the past if you maximize your options, you are guaranteed a bid. They will talk about this process during the information sessions. (I give the ‘in the past’ qualifier because who knows how things will change, never thought blinn only would have to wait so long this cycle :frowning: )

My son also chose all 3 options in January and is still waiting…We did receive a response recently that said decisions will be made my mid-March. The answers always differ, depending on who you speak with, so guess we’ll just have to continue to wait to see.

Is it just me or does it seem like overall things have slowed down on the admissions side with the exception of seeing some transfer students being notified yesterday? I just felt like there was a flood of PSAs quite a bit and then late last week, there weren’t many.

If we don’t hear by this Friday, March 1st, I feel a full on temper tantrum coming on :smiling_imp:  :face_with_spiral_eyes:

My son has three friends (already admitted) waiting on him to sign a lease, so he’s feeling the stress now. He was asking me last night at dinner if he was going to have to go to OU~ great backup, but I never thought we’d still be waiting this long!

I do wonder if the FAFSA delay has something to do with this? Maybe admission numbers are off until those go through.

It seems very quiet. Hopefully the AO is busy finishing up admission offers to the three options kids!!!

Will we be able to sign a contract as an agreement that if we meet the requirements, we get automatic admissions into one of the participating majors that we select under PTA?

Yes. The student will after high school graduation. And yes it’s a sure thing if meets requirement.
