Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

Sorry to stir the pot earlier, but that comment just really threw me when I heard it. What you’ve said makes a lot more sense and hopefully all of this waiting is coming to an end soon…and with good news!!!

Biology major (1st choice), BIMS (2nd choice). Applied by end of August. Team only.

I don’t think anyone is shooting the messenger here… Of course, we’re all just on pins and needles and praying for anything that makes some sense… And any sign of bad news we all flip out.

Mine applied to BIMS on 8/21, selected Team Only from the 3 options at 8am on 1/27…a whole month ago now.

You get a cookie today! Thanks for calling! I kind of figured that if they wait until 3/1 for the options to close, they probably won’t send anything until at least the 2nd.

Also, my daughter applied mid November for Landscape Architecture. Selected Team only a few days later. Contacted admissions a few weeks ago and asked if we could change to Team and waitlist. They said to submit the request as a question and they can see it internally but it won’t update in AIS. I anticipate they won’t consider her for waitlist. They did say we can’t change so I have to accept that. Good luck to everyone and I hope we get responses and celebrations next week! After that it’s a rush to the leasing offices!

I would be surprised if there are no available spots for landscape architecture. That’s a PSA major, and those are typically majors that don’t fill up.

Thanks for saying that Tee! I have heard that too! It’s listed as an opportunity major. We initially had Vis as her first choice and Landscape as 2nd choice. That may have been the problem. I wish they would just give her full admission if they have spots open. Blinn team is great but for LandArch straight admission is definitely better.

My daughter is completely fine with temporary housing. I just have my own concerns about her juggling off campus housing and buses while taking classes at two campuses and having to prepare her own meals (she’s the type to get busy and not realize she didn’t eat in a day). She’s a summer birthday, has always been one of the younger ones in her grade, and really would benefit from being on campus, just not 100% ready to be completely out on her own yet.

Best case scenario I’m assuming we’re looking at is 7 tabs for Blinn Team on Monday and housing application opens on Wednesday. I know housing is at waitlist only at this point, but I’ve also seen plenty of comments from those who have stated they’ve never seen people who want to live on campus be turned away. Realistically, from those who have been down the housing road before, is she still likely to get a temporary spot on campus at this point or would it be more likely that we’d fill out the application now then mad scramble for whatever is left of off campus housing come late July?

@MMel what are her stats? Rank/gpa/test scores?
Applying mid November is late, Viz was full within days of earliest acceptance.

@gabbytabby

Temp List comes before Wait List, for Housing.

Not sure where you’ve seen your statement above, but there absolutely are not enough beds on campus, and once it goes to Wait List…very few get pulled up. Some do…:it could be as late as July…and those would be the ones at the top of the Wait List.
Easily hundreds that want to live on campus every year, don’t get a spot…

We know Vis filled quickly. The short story is she had been into drawing and anime since Jr High and always wanted to do animation. Shortly after she applied she spoke with her cousins who are both Landscape Architects. One is now faculty of another school and we toured it. After that she has been all in on Landscape. Her stats are probably on the lower end of most who got 3 options. 3.7 UW and 4.1 W, 1240, 1st quarter. She has strong art and design skills, but there isnt really a way for them to assess that at this point.

I have similar concerns! My daughter would live on Chipotle and Starbucks which is not cost effective ! So a few things I’ve been thinking about- we can buy a TAMU meal plan. And there are private dorms like Callaway House (I think?).

I’m worried she will eat ramen every day in an apartment.

I could also see lots and lots of cheese quesadillas.

Thank you, we’ve looked at some of the off campus dorms, but really wanted to hold out hope for on campus. If that’s unrealistic we’ll readjust our expectations and start looking more seriously off campus.

If she gets in, and is able to get on Temp List, that’s great! Not ideal, but a guaranteed bed somewhere.
If it were my kid, and they could only get on Wait List…I would look off campus.

Yall part of going to college is figuring out everything and that includes eating. Never met a kid that forgot to eat lol. May not be the healthiest option but they’ll eat. Once they’re on campus for classes, they have access to all of it. They’ll adapt and they’ll learn. They’ll struggle and then spring semester they’ll succeed. It’s going to be okay. These are things we shouldn’t spend our worries on. If they get off campus hooding… teach them 5 meals over the next 6 months that’ll get them thru.

My son… super busy in school, has found Costco premade meals, like stuffed peppers, to be his best friend. Easy peasy toss in air fryer. Just sayin they are resourceful.

Living off campus, I just don’t see mine catching a bus to go to campus for dinners. I’m already concerned about the reality of taking a bus to campus just to catch another bus to RELLIS, coupled with the limited meal options available at RELLIS. It all makes me a worried mom.

Yeah safe bet they aren’t grabbing a shuttle back to campus for dinner. Lolol. I would say most that live on campus leave for dinner in general.

When I was at tamu in the 90s I lived on Jack in the Box tacos and ramen…and cheap pitchers of beer at the tap on Wed nights. #LovedEveryMinute
