Even Howdy to 7-tabs isn’t “official” - it’s just another perfect leading indicator. Official is the change in AIS and accepting the offer. Mods, correct me if I’m wrong.
I was thinking about checking out Park West for sure. Heard Cambridge is a big party scene.
Thanks for the tips!
While true that it is official, I’m aware of only one person who got 7 tabs and then reverted back to 3. It was an odd situation where they were classified as top 10% and then got reclassified to top 25% (not sure how or why).
We signed at ParkWest so praying she gets in! We did a 4x4 large hillside
That is what I am looking at too. He has one friend for sure he wants to live with, but he is on the both Waitlist/Team option, so not sure if he will find out soon. I think having 4 roommates is better than two though. I don’t want a roommate to go out of town and he be there alone on weekends. That happened to me one year, she went home every weekend.
So if we saw a change on the manage application page…then, it should go to 7 tabs and then you would see accepted in AIS over the next couple of days? Just want to manage my own expectations.
@Aggies1997 Cambridge Hall hasn’t been open for at least a year. It definitely wasn’t terribly popular when it was open. They offered ‘scholarships’ to many students to live there. Quite odd/sketchy.
Callaway House is a big party atmosphere…think ‘Animal House’. Not all, of course, but many.
*just know that only Park West is strictly A&M, RELLIS and Blinn students (because it is located ON A&M property). No other off campus location can discriminate…anyone can sign a lease.
Be VERY cautious about using ‘roommate finder’ or signing a lease where rooms are empty/to be filled…rooms can be leased to anyone (male or female, any age…).
Saturday we toured Callaway House, 12 North, Park West, Cambridge Hall, and The Standard. Park West said for females all they had left were 1x1 efficiencies and expected to be filled by the end of day today. In the end, my girl loved 12 North. I love that it’s close enough to walk to the Fish Pond bus stop to get to RELLIS and walk to Sbisa dining hall. Our leasing agent said she lives on sight and still eats at Sbisa. Plus, they’ll knock off the $200 application fee if you apply within 48 hours of touring so definitely plan your tour close to when you’d like to apply.
My nephew, who is graduating in May, lives there right now. He loves 12 North.
I am so torn on Callaway House. I have a friend whose son is heading there. He and my son are friends. My kid is definitely frat boy party crowd, but he’s not “wild”. So your words make me a little worried about it. I am wondering if it would be a little over the top for him. Twelve North looks SO NICE and I love NG. We need to drive down… but it would have to be after Spring Break and that may be too late for these places to still have space.
We picked both and have not had a change yet.
Maybe that means you’re getting full admit! Don’t give up hope!
I was thinking that, too. Some majors will have more spots to pull from the waitlist. It could be a good thing to see no changes yet!
My ‘26 daughter lived in callaway her freshman year. If your son is that crowd he will be fine and enjoy it. Just because they party doesn’t mean they don’t study. MANY of them do very well at managing both. My daughter made a 4.0 and had the best first year of college in callaway.
Don’t count it out if you think your son would like it.
I would say that anyone who can go visit now that you are in, you should go! It was so much fun to go and buy some things and realistically look at housing. There are so many apartments/dorm-like options very close to campus. I think the northgate options are closer than White Creek also, and look as nice or nicer. I am so excited for everyone!!!
@austinmomlv it’s a big Greek life vibe, for sure! He’d probably love it. Doesn’t mean HE has to be wild. Callaway House location is great, and meals are included.
Biggest drawback to 12 North is, the units/rooms are dark. Like very little natural light. That may bother some. NG area is definitely wild & loud, and could be super loud on Thursday nights and weekends.
Lots to consider.
My daughter lives in Callaway House. My niece will live there next year. Yes, it is a party scene; yes, it is pretty wild and yes, it smells bad sometimes; but it is also the closest thing to an on-campus dorm (not an apartment) and a great place to make friends. I read so many posts about lonely kids who don’t connect with anyone in their dorms - that has definitely not been my daughter’s experience. (And although she pledged, she has 3 roommates - who all dropped out of rush, so it isn’t exclusively for Greek kids.) She’s made more friends, formed more study groups, and gotten more dates from kids she met at Callaway than any other org/place. I wouldn’t live there (because I am a neurotic 52-year-old woman) but she wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. So each kid is different. It isn’t all bad. And for the right kid, it can be a perfect fit.
We chose both- wait and Blinn team
Just had a change of major to my sons second choice for degree but it still states under review- anyone else have this
This is something we considered about living on Northside. Has anyone heard about the Modulars or Hullabaloo being too loud on weekends?
The side of Hullabaloo that faces University Drive might hear some Thursday night NG noise, but more will complain about the sound of the train the first week.
