Hmm alright
If you compare ENGL freshmen and engineering ETAM there are a lot in common.
The path will be tough, seek a lot of academic help from Corps and don’t try to solve questions you don’t understand as STEM classes pace is fast.
Take MATH 151, ENGL 104 or COMM 203, CHEM 107/117 in first semester. If you have no pre-Calc experience take MATH 150 instead of 151. This semester you will need straight A.
Second semester take MATH 152 (or 151 if you start with 150), PHYS 206, if you get advisor’s help you can register CSCE 120 and CSCE 222 (this is actually a discrete math class). This semester will be very tough. If you get straight A then Comp Science is possible.
The third semester you can take CSCE 221, which is also a tough class and need advisor approval, and you can get in only if you are 4.0 (proving that you can continue). The rest of the third semester you can take other core curriculum that applies to both ENGL and your target major.
You need three semesters before applying TAP. Engineering | Texas A&M University
Comp Science transfer heavily depends on your GPA and you need 4.0. Do you have programming experience? If not, start some coding classes now. You can enroll in community college this summer for COSC 1420 “Structured Programming in C”, it will not be used in TAMU but you get some idea about programming.
Many students aiming Computer Science because they think the job market is hot. It is not necessary because there are too many colleges offering the major. All other engineering majors at TAMU have over 30 hours of coding. A Nuclear engineer can work in both Nuclear and Comp Science job, a Comp science grad cannot work on Nuclear engineering job. Be open-minded about which engineering major to go.
Thank you this has been very insightful and I for sure will be studying. Also when is the Math Placement exam?
You can schedule MPE any time now. It has a link in AIS.
When is the latest I can do it? Because they told me to give it a few days for my admission. So do I need to wait for all that information before i can do it?
Practice problems link MPE - Virtual Math Learning Center
Any time before your NSC date. So any time between you get access in AIS and early August. So if you sign up July 18-19 for NSC in AIS, then you can do MPE anytime before July 17. For ENGL, it is virtual.
I see this information is extremely helpful, again thank you.
No I haven’t regarding the corps but I know there were a few team students who ended up getting full admission in May last year.
Variable or fixed rate tuition? Any data that is helpful would be appreciated!
I would like to know when would I recieve my FASFA aid because it said they just got it and I was wondering if It was supposed to the say the amount of aid at that exact time or will it update later and if so is there like a time frame or completely random?
They go over this at NSC.
If student has Tx Tomorrow Fund (or the newer version), it is automatically Fixed.
Likely mid to end of Fall semester as they don’t know the final enrollment total until school starts.
Hello -
I have a question re: rental insurance. we rented at Parkwest next to A&M campus and they sent an email re: insurance, anyone has recommendations on good companies/process to use?
Thank you very much
Just go through your primary insurance. It’s less than $100 a year typically
Has Mays admissions policy of first come first serve changed? A friend reached out to A&M admissions, and they were told it’s holistic admissions. Thanks!
Do freshman applicants need to send dual college transcripts at the time of application, or just high school transcript to verify top 10% for auto admit? I realize the transcript eventually has to be sent to claim credit, but not sure if it needs to be sent to fulfill and application.
I believe you will not get a green check in AIS unless they receive the college transcript for dual credit classes, so yes…at the time of application.
