@SpaceMom2 TAMU acceptances started going out in September.
Assume your student is holistic? Holistic students (unless very high stats) should expect to hear back January-March.
How are you able to see what the identified century scholars are?.. is this known?
I’m only asking this because I believe I might have have a daughter who A&M considers high achieving… but I do not know how to see if we are in a school they consider a century scholar school. She was accepted to Mays and to the Business Honors program. We have just created a FASFA account and I’m hopeful there will be merit to follow. I appreciate your knowledge of the process!
I think I googled a list of century scholar schools last year.
@TXMOM2024 congrats on Mays, and especially BH!! Most BHers get some sort of Mays scholarship (not a full ride, but helpful!).
You’d need to ask your high school counselor if your school is a Century Scholar school-they will know.
Your daughter did complete the scholarship application for incoming freshman, correct?
When did you find out about BH?
Thank you!.. yes she completed the scholarship essays on common app before submitting her application. I am hopeful for any help. We haven’t been through this admissions process before so I’m certainly thankful for forums like this. We created the FASFA account today and will complete the application for financial aid in the next few days, hopefully.
@TXMOM2024 can’t say enough GREAT things about the BH program! Game changer, for sure!
I would NOT suggest applying/doing the UH (University Honors) program…at all (if that’s something she’s thought about).
Make sure to submit FAFSA every year-whether you qualify or not-as MANY scholarships require FAFSA to be on file.
Doesn’t matter which NSC your daughter attends, being BH, registration will take minutes (tho never wait until August NSC). My BHer chose mid July NSC and got every class she wanted & registered in under 3 minutes. It was a much smaller, less hectic, NSC also. Be sure you/the parent, plan to stay & attend day 2 NSC for Mays & BH specific sessions:
I am appreciative of your advice! Thank you so much!
Absolutely! Happy to answer any Mays & BH questions.
Mays & Mays parents are THE BEST!
OOS daughter waiting on engineering decision, she has reached out with two unwanswered emails to her admissions counselor for our area. Her Q1 grades have been sent, Q2 does not end until Jan 26. Should she go in and update her SRAR with her completed Q1 grades? There was a terrible glitch with UTK and VT in Dec and I am worried it may occur if she updates her TAMU SRAR and the date of completion will reset. Any thoughts? Also, is it commmon for the admissions counselor to not respond?
Hello! We were told that the SRAR is through Junior year only and to not make any updates to it. I am so sorry they did not respond. We have had luck asking questions through the AIS portal under the Communications tab. Good luck! We are still waiting as well. Hoping in the next few weeks we see some movement.
Thanks so much! Very helpful info! We are registered for Aggieland Weekend on Feb 10th, hoping to hear on a decision before that. We have hotel booked but have not booked flights yet, pretty expensive so fingers crossed we hear good news soon!
@Abigail_Anderson Admissions will only look at grades from end of junior year. If SAT/ACT scores improved, she could submit that, but senior year grades aren’t considered.
Thanks for the info but that doesn’t seem fair. This is an important year as well, she is taking AP Calc and AP Physicis, as well as AP Government and AP Art History, super proud of her as she is doing so well. I would have hoped that would have been condisered? Do they consider that she is taking those courses or should they have been taken prior to senior year?
I should clarify-they won’t take grade/rank change into consideration. I do think they’ll look at what classes are being taken. So she’s just taking Calc this year? Did she retake SAT?
@ChristiR93 or @FriscoDad can better answer your question.
I think in the SRAR, my daughter had to enter in her classes for this year, but obviously no grades. So, I think they do see the classes being taken for Senior year when evaluating holistically? My daughter is the same with all of the AP classes this year, so it does stink.
Yes - what @52AG82 said
Thank you, good info. There is so much to know with each different application!
@Abigail_Anderson did her senior schedule change? Otherwise, assume she listed what courses she’d be taking when she applied.
