Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

On last year’s CC thread, the alternate pathways to Engg offers were reported from Jan 24th or 25th onwards. We are not too far off from that date.

It came in a postal mail about 4/5 weeks after admission for me.

@Ae1231 scholarships appear in FinAid tab on Howdy portal, usually starting in February, but can show up as late as after school starts in September. Student will need to ‘accept’ them in Howdy, they don’t apply automatically. And some-like Presidential Endowed Scholar, McFadden and Lechner-will go away, if not accepted soon enough.
It is up to the student to check FinAid tab.

Unless you are NMSF or Commended, an auto admit with extremely high scores & stats, a high achiever from an identified Century Scholar School or entering the Corps/FTAB, don’t expect scholarships, certainly not ‘big’ ones. A&M doesn’t match offers from other schools, it can be difficult to get offered $4k for OOS students to earn in-state tuition.

@Kevin_Weaver curious, are you a current student or incoming freshman? What major?

We tried to click through the 3 options as others on this thread have suggested we do. However, we got error messages when we clicked on TEAM and Gateway. Only PSA sent us to a page with more info. Did this happen to others?

I would bet money it’s just broken links and an email went out before the proper QA test.

That happened to us too. I am betting just broken links as well.

OK, so i looked at the links - they are mx.technolutions - so it’s tracking links so A&M can see who clicks on them. Another layer of broken links.

I am guessing this has been asked before but our family feels that we would only pay and send our daughter all the way to Texas if she was given full admission to CS for Engineering. I know that many times it has been said if offered TEAB to take it and it is considered full admission. If we chose waitlist only is there data that we can see see if anyone ever makes it off the waitlist and when would we hear about that?

I wouldn’t pay OOS for TEAB if there are other options. (And I am an Aggie), but that’s just me and how I would look at OOS options for my S24. If you have a full admit at another school, I would do that. but again, that’s me.

Thank you, I appreciate your honesty, this whole process feels crazy this year. I thought it was crazy with my eldest daughter in 2022 but this is really not fun.

@austinmomlv agree :100:! I wouldn’t pay OOS tuition for a pathway, especially if my student had direct acceptance/admission to their desired field of Engineering at other schools.
I’m sure some would, but no way I would.

Thoughts on waitlist?

It’s a crap shoot. She might get offered full admission, but almost certain that offer would come after guaranteed on campus housing is full with a Wait List.
I definitely wouldn’t send an OOS student to any school, if they had to live off campus as a freshman. They will just miss out on so much.

Did you get the options already to choose? Good luck your kiddo!! Hard decisions.

No not yet, I don’t even know how or when those arrive. I have heard it is not sent in an email, you just have to keep check
ing AIS for a communication about it? We are just trying to prepare in advance. We are registered for Aggie Saturday but won’t make the trip if she is not admitted. I know Aggie Saturday is not specific to admitted kids but we thought it would be a good time to visit. With each day that passes we are feeling less optimistic about getting full admit.

Gotcha! I am so sorry, we feel your pain! We are in state though, so a bit of a different situation when it comes to the pathways, etc. After reading last years forums to try and get any sort of timeline and context, it sounds like there were still quite a bit of full admits around this time, so I would not lose all hope for full admit.

What are her other options? Anything she is excited about?

Any new admission acceptances this morning? :sunny::cold_face: #foreverinreview
