Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

First post… so much great info and thanks to everyone. Still waiting on an engineering decision. Haven’t seen a lot of those go out yet. 6 kids that we know are in same position with no decision… spread between 1st and 2nd quartile. Any insight? Still in the running? Received a message on AIS “ Engineering applicants who met the Early Action deadline but remain in review have been deferred to the regular decision timeline and can expect a decision by late January-mid February.”

Thanks again!

Do we have to wait for AIS to update for Housing access?

In the past few cycles, TEAB and full engineering admission still given out between Jan and Feb. Usually pathway options (TEAB/McAllen/Galveston/waitlist) given out first, then applicants need to pick. Picking anything with waitlist will have to wait through April.
That’s past few cycles this year may change a little.

You can try accessing housing via Howdy. Sometimes work the same day sometimes take 24-48hours.

I’m nervous to tell my kiddo–this is real, right? even without the AIS update? 7 tabs and it says Blinn Team with Pols Major for Fall 24. Sorry, just excited and nervous

It’s real! Our daughter got TEAM 2 years ago and her AIS update was pretty quick. This time, my son got 7 tabs Monday morning (full admit POLS) and AIS still hasn’t updated, saying “under review.” We’ve been checking the housing portal regularly to pay a deposit and the tab to fill out housing finally appeared about 30 min. ago. The campus was closed yesterday and had a delayed opening this morning at 10 am because of weather so that could have something to do with how their acceptance “flows” through all the updating channels. I’ve seen varying times (an hour to 4 days) of when AIS finally reads “Whoop!..” Congrats!

thank you! He’s our last of 3, and the hardest to raise by far! I’m crying so excited! He wants to join the Corps…it’s all happening!

Is it true that from now on there will be no more full admission instead just pathway ?  :sob:

@Henry91 what are your stats and what majors did you apply for? Looks like you did apply pretty late.
At this point, there will be fewer full admits (especially if non Engineering), mostly pathways.

@ALL if you accept BlinnTEam do you have to live on campus dorm at TAMU or can you rent an apt off campus?

I’m in 1st quarter and applied for Biology :sob: :sob:

@ALL have there been any Construction Science or GIS &Tech acceptances?

I do expect Bush School full admittances through next week, since they only started admitting primarily from last week. Is that a good expectation to have? I am first quarter.

Interesting on the apply late comment. TAMU is the only school my son applied to the night before the deadline. All other schools he applied months before the deadline (early Oct) - and it seemed to have had zero impact on when he was told a decision or what that decision is. So you’re saying that TAMU is kinda rolling? He applied to Business OOS.

Yes it’s semi-rolling. When Engineering or Business fill, they do not admit more. So with A&M, you have to apply super early unless you are in state auto 10%.

@PepperMilo A&M does have rolling admissions. Applying early for Mays & Visualization, especially, is super important…as they take a small number of incoming freshman.
Mays accepts 1,125 and when it’s full, it is full. There is no Wait List. No one knows the exact date this year, but appears Mays was full mid-late November.
What was your son’s 2nd major?

@jrgomez224 only University Honors (UH), Corps and one certain scholarship program (name escapes me at the moment) are required to live on campus. There is not enough for all students, not even all freshman.
I’ve mentioned to you in another thread, do NOT put deposit down for off campus housing, until you have acceptance, or know for sure that you’ll be attending Blinn if you don’t get it.
There is PLENTY of off campus housing, and you will NOT get out of a 12 month lease. Ever.

Good news is Mays enrollment expansion already started last Fall. TAMU took out page mentioning 1125 freshmen. The new BEC, Wayne Roberts building is coming 2025. In last cycle (Fall 2023), TAMU enrolled 1236 first time at level freshmen.

But of course the expansion is gradual and still very competitive so still need to apply early.

His Common App says 1) Business and 2) Economics BS

Does that mean he has no shot?

He only has 3 tabs on his portal.
