Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

@PepperMilo for Mays-no. It is full.
At this point, he could be expecting a ‘pathway’ admission offer -Blinn TEAM, Gateway, Opportunity Major or PSA- slim chance of full acceptance to Econ at this point.

I suggest googling ‘Texas A&M pathway admissions’; you can find info/details about all 4 pathways I mentioned.

If/when he sees 7 tabs, that’s when an offer is coming from TAMU.

Out of curiosity, when did you have to apply by for Mays? We just knew that Engineering was 10/15 and all else was 12/1.

This is one I didn’t push for - lack of guaranteed housing freshman year & coming from the north east, I just can’t agree to.

Unfortunately, it’s a “If you know, you know” thing. All the wisdom about applying to Mays is get your application submitted in August for the best chance.

@PepperMilo yep, most apply in August for Mays. Mays is primarily auto admits, so not a lot of room for holistic admits.

Nearly all of the OOS Corps cadets receive the Maj. Gen. Raymond L. Murray ’35 Corps Of Cadets Scholarship. According to the Corps recruiters, if you are in the Corps, apply, and complete the FAFSA you will receive the tuition waiver. You do not have to meet the $4,000 scholarship criteria for general university tuition waiver. There is a lot more information about the scholarship; just goolge “Maj. Gen. Raymond L. Murray ’35 Corps Of Cadets Scholarship”.

Additionally, if you are contracted (on Army, Air Force/Space Force, or Navy/Marine ROTC scholarship), you will also receive a Room and Board scholarship.

Just so it’s clear… being auto admit doesn’t guarantee you your desired major. If it’s full, it’s full. For engineering, you can be auto admit and be offered teab or Galveston… OR you can select another major that doesn’t require a second admission process.

Always apply by mid September at the latest… tell your friends, your friend’s friends, family, loved ones, etc. lol… the earlier the better, regardless of what the admissions blanket statement is.

The Engineering Honors department told me they would begin sending out decisions after the February 15 deadline.

And he spent so much time on the app…ugh. Fate I suppose. What’s an OOS kid to know?!

What is the percentage of auto admits that don’t get their major? I thought I saw something frisco dad posted a while back that shows like 99.9% received major.

He is our stats guy, and most do get their desired major, but it’s not guaranteed. For instance, if an auto admit applies Nov. 30th for Mays… they will not get it.

If Engineering auto applies but has a 1010 SAT, they will not get Engineering at tamu most likely. They’ll get a pathway. I’ve had at least 5 students this has happened to.

I can’t imagine someone not applying TO with that SAT though, but I guess if you don’t know, you don’t know.

Does anyone know if public health is still taking admission?

So a kid applying to engineering, both choices of major being engineering and submitted by deadline of Oct. 15th their chances are slim due to timing? I feel like the last kid picked in gym class , lol! Sadly the zoom back in the fall with the Engineering Dept. didn’t make that clear.

Admission into engineering is a lot more complex than admission into Mays. (Sorry business majors). Because A&M has ETAM and TEAB (so engineering doesn’t “fill” like Mays) and looks at math readiness, etc. I saw top 10% kids getting engineering in December. They absolutely take the most qualified students as fast as they can apply, but if a student is on a bubble, then that will take longer. That’s what I’ve observed, anyway

Thanks so much. I didn’t realize how different (and longer process) Engineering admissions are. Hopefully we will know something soon.

No… applying by Oct. 15th for initial deadline is good. NOONE tho is guaranteed engineering as full admit though.

To add onto this perfect post, there are so many pathways into Engineering, that it doesn’t fill, just spots at main campus. But Galveston/TEAB/McAllen are great options and wonderful opportunities in their own right.

Oh correct… this was before Covid on the low SAT… there was another that was in the 1200s and the others weren’t course rigor ready.
