Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

Congrats all! Exciting to see some holistic admissions coming in so early.

I’m no expert but notice the few holistics admitted this early have high SAT/ACT scores.

Wait continues.. Does the acceptance come in phases ?

In the past, holistic reviews do come in what I call waves but TAMU would probably disagree. There’s usually a wave of holistics in October, November and early December. Not a lot, but high scorers in the top quarter or super high score in other quarters. Mays seems to hear sooner than most (aside from Engineering) but it looks like a Nutrition major heard so that may have changed.

Congrats to all that got their tabs today and for engineering review to Engineering!!! Very exciting.

DS25 major turned to General Engineering! Happy that’s done. Sad for all the others who have to wait so long, my DS23 didn’t know till Feb.

My son’s Howdy portal is showing 7 tabs. Did he get accepted ?
We don’t see the “Whoopi” message. Where to check ?

Yes that is acceptance but sometimes it takes another day or so till you see the “You’ve been Admitted” message.

Yes, UT admits directly to major. I have one in engineering at UT and one recently accepted to A&M(non engineering). UT admits far less students into engineering, so its very high competition to get in, but once you’re in, you can jump right into your classes for your specific major. It’s also not impossible to transfer to other disciplines within engineering. The ETAM was a major turn off for my older student.

Same about ETAM…my computer science kid had zero interest in any other “engineering” major, which is why he went elsewhere. My current kid is pretty set on ChemE and I have much more confidence in his ability to get the 3.75 gpa…it’s still a risk but one he can take. However if he gets ChemE at UT he may go that direction.

Same here. I am blowing up the balloons an putting out the confetti as we speak. I’m so glad this happened not long after receiving the official packet and banner. I really hated hiding it from him.

My son gave us a big NO when it came to applying to t.u. I promise that was his call, not ours. As much as I wouldn’t want him to go to t.u. I would have supported any decision he made in this process. That being said, his first choice is ChemE and his second is Nuclear Engineering. So, if he doesn’t ETAM into ChemE he is bound to get his second choice when I see how low down Nuclear is on the ETAM list.

Where is the engineering major list in order of popularity?

I don’t know where I saw it. I think it as in this forum somewhere. It was the ETAM list. I bet someone else could direct us to where I saw it.

I found it! https://engineering.tamu.edu/_files/_documents/_content-documents/ETAM-2023-placement-outcomes-report-2Aug2023.pdf

My son was a holistic review and received the 7 tabs this morning. Can you find out which major from the Howdy portal or do we have to wait until AIS changes? Thanks!!

After being admitted to the university and in engineering review, his “Whoop, You’re admitted” in the howdy portal was the last thing to update.

7 tabs this morning for holistic Mays review!! :tada: :tada: :tada: We clicked My Dashboard and Overview and it shows Program: Business Administration (Lower) so assuming he got Mays vs his 2nd choice major but will wait for AIS to change until we officially celebrate that part!
