My son got Blinn Team this morning. He wants to be in the Corps. Are Blinn Team kids able to be in any outfit or do they have to be in a separate Blinn Team outfit?
Congratulations! They can be in any outfit.
Awesome! Thank you! He is balking b/c he doesn’t think Blinn TEAM is full admission, but I’m trying to explain it to him. I actually think it would be good for him to have a couple of smaller classes at Blinn. UGH!!
There is zero negative stigma to team. No one cares. At all. If they do, then that’s on them but serious, never hear of any negativity towards it. Even straight Blinn isn’t berated. They all have one goal… get that ring and have fun doing it.
Hi Stranger! Boy am I glad that we don’t have to deal with this stress again! I am also glad Hunter picked Team only. He is loving being a Aggie, and has done well with his A&M classes. Hope everyone from last year is having a great year as well. February was brutal!
Team is an Aggie, and if he wants to be an Aggie, it is worth it. Having 2 classes at Blinn lightens the load of school work, but taking the bus over to the Rellis campus does take up more time during the day. Congrats!
@Christi1993, based on the helpful recap you posted from 2024, it looks like the clock is starting. Do you know if all straight TEAM went out at the same time? Same with other categories (GW, 3 options)?
EXACTLY!!! I am praying he will take it!!! GO BLINN TEAM!!
Huge congrats to the newly admitted Aggies!
It’s hard to tell if they do 1 or 2 rounds of straight Team offers based on these threads and reddit and fb. I think there are 2 rounds but the second will come after the options come out. I do not think we’ll have another round before then. BUT that is only MY GUESS/presumption.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know what kind of stats people who applied to Mays but get offered Blinn Team have? I’d like to think I have a good chance but having heard nothing yet is making me anxious :,)
It’s honestly anyone’s guess, but top quarter with SAT around 1200-1300 and higher.
It appears Team offers are going out. Did you wake up to 7 tabs?
Nope, nothing yet! Just anxiously waiting because I have scores higher than that but a not-so great class rank (2nd quarter) lol, but thanks for the insight
Can you share your stats? Might be able to give you some insight. Also.. what did you list as 2nd major?
3.4 uw gpa, 4.0 / 5 w gpa, 31 ACT (correlates to ~1400 SAT), 2nd quarter at large competitive school in greater Houston, 13 APs + 1 DC + the rest honors, strong ECs with state & international level recognition, and strong essays. I applied Civil Engineering as 2nd choice
Hi everybody, my son is admitted to General Engineering at CS. He already paid for the orientation in May. But now he wants to change to Biology. What should he do now, and is chance for acceptance high? Thanks for your help.
We are waiting for Bush School for International Affairs and would love Blinn Team. Any thoughts in these stats? I would appreciate some insight and thank you in advance.
Applied 8/8
ACT 28 (has dyscalculia and wrote essay about it)
AIS First quarter rank (comes from non-ranking and highly competitive school in Houston)
4.1 gpa
Several APs with 4 on exams
4 years advanced language
XC, Track, 4 years Stuco, NHS, President History Honor Society and involved in other clubs
Lots of volunteer
Works part time
Strong essays
Strong demonstrated interest - 2 official campus tours, met with advisor and is breaking records checking the portal ![]()
In case it is helpful - my son got Blinn Team this morning despite being put in the 2nd quarter and submitting a 1270 SAT. So, his application wasn’t the tippy top. Things in his favor (I think) - were 1) he attends the top ranked open enrollment public HS in Texas, 2) lots of APs (including calculus, AP physics, AP Eng 3 and 4, etc.), 3) strong ECs (captain of the XC team, 4 years in 2 sports, volunteered, etc.); 4) he showed lots of interest - spent two nights with the Corps, met with advisors, did the visits, applied on Aug. 1; and 5) he tied his essay to his major (Financial Planning). Point is - there is hope for second quarter kids with lower than a 1300 to get Blinn Team.
Great stats. Strong chance of TEAM and or Gateway program. Putting Engineering of any kind as 2nd choice major may not be helpful. They really only look at you for engineering if it’s you’re first choice major because ALL engineering students enter under general engineering… not a specific industry. That happens after freshman year for most of these students. Engineering is also highly sought after but they have pathways to get there. So you may be the one that gets their second choice… interested to find out. Please come back and keep us posted. Best of luck to you!
He’s already been admitted, so he can ask to change his major. He should email an advisor in Biology and ask what his next steps are. My son changed from Ag Bus to Econ a month after being accepted. They do not revoke your acceptance based on your choice of major since they admit to TAMU first then a major. Since Bio is a huge major, chances are there is still room in the department. I wouldn’t wait… start with the bio advisor and go from there.
