Texas A&M Class of 2030 Official Thread

1 or 2 questions in addition to the survey?
Also, how important is it to apply Aug 1? She will be out of town. Would it affect her if she applies mid August?

Mid August is fine. It’s best to have a solid application, than to rush it. What major and is she automatic? Has she completed the STAR part of the application? That’s something she can get done now.

and yes, 1 or 2 short answers in addition to essay.

Question on the SRAR…my daughter’s transcript shows both semester averages & end of year averages for year long courses. Which should we be reporting on the SRAR?

I called Aggie One Stop and was told that STARS will be required this year instead of SRAR, but STARS is not ready yet.

Students will not be using SRAR this application cycle.

Note though that the TAMU website has a link to SRAR still, so it is confusing.
If anyone see a link to STARS, please share where/when you find it.

I saw this today.

Thank you, but this is where I am confused. When I click the links about STARS, it takes me to SRAR and that is not the correct application to use any more based on what the admissions lady I talked to said.

Am I missing something?

Thanks again!

From what I understand, it is a rebranding and not a completely different system. They will keep the same web address etc. I believe that information was on the SRAR website

I read on Tamu CommonApp that cut off for TAMU transferred hours is 30 otherwise you are considered a sophomore. Is that not correct in your experience or have you been told differently?

Thank you for that information!

Did not see a thread for 2030 yet, but my son is preparing to submit his application in a couple of weeks. Wanted to ask opinions on the Ag majors. He would love to do construction science, but I know it is ultra competitive. His dad was Ag Development and I know there is Ag Business. Are these majors competitive? Do they have pathways for TEAM? He is going to be a holistic kid since he is at private school.

My son is applying this coming cycle and started his application on the Common App. He just opened an email from Common App that says he needs to save some things outside the App as they will be refreshed and not saved. Apparently that includes letters of recommendation. We never heard this before, and have already had LOR requested and sent. Will LOR already sent remain in the Common App, or do they need to be resent?

FYI, you don’t have this thread pinned to the top.

Is there a possibility the essay topic posted on the admissions website will change come August 1st?

Hello! So glad to have this thread. DS is a junior at A&M, but I’m still nervy about this process with DD. He did Apply Texas, not Common App. He also didn’t live on campus. I have a few questions

DD is auto admit, but also wants to go into Mays. She needs to get her SAT up and will take it in August, with scores coming out in September. But she is also hoping to get Hullabaloo as her dorm. So I think she needs to get her application in asap. If she submits her SAT in September will they circle back and look at her, or does she go in a TO stack and kind of miss the boat?

She’ll get into Mays if auto admit. Why would she need to get her scores up… scholarship?

If she applies in aug, she’ll get mays. Anything later is a risk. Filling out housing application will be based on when housing app opens up (after admitted) and completion of app plus paying deposit.

She would like to apply for Business Honors. She has a really good resume and excellent extras.

What is her class rank and current SAT/ACT?

I have a few questions for you guys! My son is an auto-admit and hopefully engineering major.

  1. People on fb are saying not to upload an LOR because it will delay admissions. I can’t believe that’s actually true? Would t my son want to include it for engineering?
  2. Does the official transcript for rank delay admissions? A&M literature says yes but friends last year said no. My guess is our counselor is overloaded with schedules and won’t send it until Sept at best. Thoughts?

Thanks for all your help!!!

I guess it depends on your high school but at ours we request the transcript through the district and they send it electronically. The guidance counselors don’t typically send transcripts. We went to our district site to request transcript and had it sent to A & M for rank. It’s an electronic process. It took about a week for A & M to get it and process it.
She was admitted in 2022 but the A & M admissions counselor even reached out at one point in the process to let her know they needed to get her rank confirmed soon or she would go to wholistic review. She had already sent it they just hadn’t received it yet and they got it within a few days. My Aggie also uploaded LORs. Anyway her app was complete with everything received and processed by A & M by the tuesday after labor day weekend and she was accepted in the first wave of admissions that happened late september that year. She got her first choice major, Visualization. Yes you do need to do things early but don’t panic.
