Thank you! This has been a whirlwind this year! hoping and praying for the best for all of our kiddos! They will all bloom where they are planted ![]()

Does anyone know the System schools involved in PSA?
*but note that not every school may be offered, and majors are limited.
If I am understanding PSA correctly, you do one year meeting the requirements (set forth in a letter we are still waiting on) and it’s guaranteed transfer to College Station Sophomore year? It kind of sounds better than a TEAM option where you have to apply as a transfer or being on the waitlist where you may just not get a spot, am I missing something? We are ready to accept her second choice but the more I read about PSA, the more I’m thinking it may not be that bad of an option and want to make sure I have all the info before we commit anywhere.
PSA is generally considered a ‘soft rejection’ to most…but I guess some could be excited?! Majors are very limited-and you can NOT switch majors once you get to College Station. The most popular campus is Corpus Christi, the rest are kinda meh. Not every campus is offered to every student.
Blinn TEAM is great, because students are considered fulltime Aggies-they can live on campus, pledge greek life, have a sports pass. PSA students don’t…and miss out on the true freshman year experience at A&M.
I’m just wondering because it sounds a lot like several of the other options out there, others have been straight accepted to majors they haven’t chosen, others have been waitlisted with no guarantee of admittance, so PSA really doesn’t sound too bad. I heard you can change your major, it’s just not encouraged and hard to do, especially if the classes you take don’t align with your new major (as would be the case with any change of major). My daughter has specific goals, not a specific major so for kids like her I guess you could say it would be an exciting choice if she wants to be an Aggie.
If she doesn’t mind starting out at a random campus, and there’s a major she’d be happy with, then it could be a great option! What is her desired major…and end goal?
Does anyone think theres any chance this could be another options or TEAM wave? Trying to hold out hope.
I think you guys have the right attitude here 10000%! Congrats to your daughter and blessings for a great year!
She wants to study abroad and get a degree with a global/international focus. We have already toured Tarleton and really liked the campus so if that is one of her options then we may go with that. Waiting to see what majors/schools she is offered before jumping ship ![]()
Sounds like a great plan! I’d say Tarleton is probably the 2nd most popular campus, after TAMUCC.
PSA is a good plan if TAMU is her only desire. Global/internationa/pols is a cool field.
What are her backup schools? Their program could be worth it.
Baylor is her backup, already accepted. It would be easier financially to go with TAMU but we could make Baylor work if needed. It’s a matter of being debt free or having some loans to pay off (not a huge amount but it makes a difference when one option is having no loans) She is excited for Baylor too, we just want to have all the info available so she can make the best choice.
I’m a Baylor girl. It would be a no brainer to me…go to BU! Have the true, real freshman experience-attend Welcome Week, run the Line at football games, make friends for life in the dorm, join clubs, etc. That’s the kind of stuff you won’t get, with PSA.
But if those things aren’t important to her, then PSA would be fine.
Anyone who applied Construction Science still waiting with no change to portal (no check AIS for update message)? Wondering if they do these PSAs in batches or one full swoop.
Those are all being heavily weighed and it’s good to hear from alumni who enjoyed the experience, so thank you! Waco is closer to us and I would LOVE to watch ther ‘run the line’, but I also want her to see the full options before her final decision since these are the only two schools she is considering at this point.
We have already signed up for the lunch on us day, Baylor Bound day, and Baylor Premiere. She has several Aggies on her dad’s side so we are just doing our due diligence and giving her the full picture so there is no second guessing once the decision is made ![]()
I still see/keep in touch with most of my sorority sisters, roommates, we just drove to Waco last weekend to attend a Lady Bears game. I LOVED my years at BU! And, BOY, how the campus has changed since I was there!! The Hurd Welcome Center puts all other colleges to shame. I also have tons of friends at church, that I knew when I was a student; it’s fun that now our kids are friends.
I’m married to a total Red Ass Aggie, who mentions his dorm buddies & roomies often, we’ve been
season ticket holders for years, attend many basketball & baseball games, too (we live 52 minutes from B/CS, 3 hours from Waco). Our daughter was 3rd gen Mays/business school (it wasn’t Mays when dad & grandfather were there) grad. She, too, loved every minute of her time at A&M, made her very best friends her freshman year-dorm, sorority pledge class, Business Honors cohort.
Big stuff to consider-going PSA route means your daughter will never get the true, happens-only-once, freshman experience. That isn’t important to everyone, so if she doesn’t care about that kind of stuff, then PSA is ideal.
But you only get to be a freshman once…
Such a great perspective! I keep hearing such great things about Baylor and everyone we we know there loves it.
