Texas A&M Class of 2030 Official Thread

So my friend got the same message about a change in AIS but can’t see anything different.

Here’s what his looks like:

The change major button is gone, isn’t it?

Is everyone thinking this is PSA for sure or we don’t know?

We are construction science, but unfortunately got the check AIS update in Howdy. Maybe that means something is still available for your student.

Unless something has changed this year, loss of ‘Change Major’ = PSA

Awe, thank you for letting me know. This is truly strange.

I’m losing track of who has been admitted, who got options etc. Has your son? What are his stats/scores?

Best of luck to your student. We are exploring options to transfer in next year.

He is 2nd quarter (small school, barely 2nd quarter, but ya know…), decent scores, great ECs. Did not get options. We were praying for a Gateway miracle. :woman_shrugging: I will keep yall posted because this has been a weird season! So thankful this is our last rodeo with this!

As you know, 2ndQ will be TOUGH. Does he still have ‘Change Major’ option?

Agree :100: I am soooo thankful the college admission phase in my life is done! Hang in there!

I will say that if she chooses PSA, the system schools do a great job of getting PSA students together. Easy to make friends that are also working to meet the requirements. While not a freshman experience on the main campus, it is a freshman experience at a 4 year university… dorm life, campus life, clubs, intramurals, sports, etc.

He does right now, but we are prepared for it to go away at a moments notice. We knew it was a long shot for him this year.

Does Mays participate in PSA?

Hard NO. That’s one major that won’t accept a transfer from PSA.

The link I gave you this morning are the only major options. No wiggle room.

Howdy! I am currently a student at A&M. If you have/are an incoming freshman I can guarantee y’all a spot in Hullabaloo.

This is a long explanation, but here it goes. I lived off campus for a year, but am planning to move back on campus to live with a friend that will be renewing his contract to live on campus. Unfortunately due to ResLife rules I can only form a roommate pair with other students applying, not renewing, for on campus housing. Additionally, since I am a non freshman applying for housing I am temporary housing status and will not be able to select a dorm of my choice. If a temporary housing student forms a roommate pair with a permanent housing student(majority of freshman applicants) then the temporary housing student will be pulled up to permanent housing.

Given that, my friend is going to renew his contract to live in Hullabaloo. You/your freshman would form a roommate pair with me to pull me out of temporary housing and we would pick a dorm (my friend and I intend to live in a balcony style dorm). Come room swap season you would swap rooms with my friend. You/your freshman end up with that room in Hullabaloo that is so hard to come by and my friend and I would get the spot in FHK we have been hunting for.

If you are interested please feel free to shoot me off a message!

These are the majors that participate (and only certain degrees within each major tab)

I am going to disagree with you on this as you can do all those things at Tarleton. My daughter was given a PSA and decided to go to Tarelton and did a transfer as her degree was not offered. She had an awesome freshman year with football games, clubs, dorm/social life, and made the best of friends whom she still visits. She will graduate from TAMU in May. It is all what you make of it.

Yes, you can do those things at Tarleton, but not all the other PSA schools. The schools that do have Greek life, don’t necessarily have the same chapters at A&M. My point was-it’s hard to make friends, get involved…then transfer to College Station and basically start all over. So many key friends, clubs/orgs, memories & connections are made-at any school-freshman year. Maybe that doesn’t bother some, but it’s definitely something to think about.

Any updates? Seeing another wave of “check AIS” on Reddit (I know I know…) and also a couple of rejections. This is quite bizarre and feels like watching a train wreck at this point.

Hi! New here! My kid received the three options four weeks ago tomorrow. She chose TEAM only. We haven’t heard anything. She only knows a handful of classmates who applied to TAMU and they all got in for engineering, so we don’t have anyone to compare her situation with. Is it normal to wait this long for a response for TEAM only? We were told she would hear back anywhere from 1-3 weeks. :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Howdy. Last year they heard quickly but year before went into March. So this year is slower than last and you are not alone!!!

Thank you! This is all so different than college was when I went!

Is it likely that she will get TEAM (she chose that option within two hours of her AIS being updated) or is there a good chance she will not get in?

Thank you. I have a very stressed out senior. Her stats are good and I thought she was a shoe-in. Whoops!
