I had the same question since I too couldn’t find any button. We let it be for a while and then my son just registered for the NSC and then AIS started showing this:
NSC - Admission Accepted
Congratulations on becoming an Aggie! You’ve accepted your offer of admission by registering for a New Student Conference on …

Yes, just sign up for NSC. There is no contract. You can always choose another school, but selecting NSC helps tamu keep track of acceptances.

You cannot apply as a transfer while still in high school, regardless of how many Dual credit courses you have. You CAN apply in the fall for Spring transfer if you meet the requirements before fall term. Admissions will only look at dual credit coursework and GPA to determine admission decision.
So true! We are so frustrated by this process. My son got his application in on August 1 and was accepted to the school by September 17 and has been an engineering review ever since. He didn’t make it in on the first wave which was already really stressful and now we keep getting these multiple emails, saying a decision has been made only to login and see it’s exactly the same. He has already been accepted directly to his engineering major at every other school he’s applied to. But he has his heart set on Texas A&M. This process is torture!

So much about your story is mine, except my son applied August 3! This process is taking its toll on my son (and me). I think they need to revamp the process for auto admits trying to get into engineering. They should not be treated exactly the same as other auto admits who seamlessly get in to their desired major. I’ve hidden the big “You’re in!” envelope for now, but with them sending him emails saying his decision is in when it is not, and then sending an email inviting him to virtual sessions for admitted students…it’s frustrating even my Aggie husband. My son has only applied to one other school (that is also competitive), but I’m going to strongly suggest he apply to a couple more this weekend so he can remember what a strong student he is and that some schools would undoubtedly be thrilled to have him!
Have you or your student reach out to admissions and ask what the email means and where you are suppose to find the update if there is one? And if there isn’t one, then why are you getting multiple emails stating such?
@astros11 what do you mean “they should not be treated exactly the same as the other auto admits who seamlessly get into their desired major”?
We did reach out on AIS after the first email and didn’t get an actual answer. They said “We appreciate your interest in Texas A&M. At this time your application is still being reviewed for engineering. Most students in engineering review receive a decision from engineering between November and February.” If you have a suggestion of a specific place to direct this question, I’m all ears!
To your other question, everything they get includes the same wording as if they are admitted. “Welcome to the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2031” and “WHOOP! You have been admitted” and “Welcome to the Aggie family” and a button saying to accept your admission in AIS, etc. I believe that the communication should be entirely different for auto admit students while in engineering review. I’m not questioning their review process necessarily but the way it is communicated. A friend whose son got in as an auto admit to another major on September 17 had nearly the same changes in AIS and Howdy that my son did, but my son had the fine print about engineering review (the first three paragraphs of the admissions letter were all cheery about being admitted to the school—took till the fourth for any mention of still being in review status). While yes the auto admits are in to the university, it’s not at all the same as being actually in to the program you hope to pursue in college.
We actually reached out to them via the questions section of AIS after the second email just to make sure he wasn’t missing something and they said “we appreciate your interest. Nothing has changed on our end. You have been admitted and your application is in engineering review”. They didn’t explain why we have been receiving multiple emails stating there has been an admission decision/change and to log back in to AIS. He really only wanted to apply to A&M so he applied there first. He has since applied to OSU, Texas Tech, UTA, and University of Houston and has received acceptances to all of those already. They were fast! lol Atleast that has made him feel better and wanted. Hoping A&M will follow suit soon!!

I think they mean they shouldn’t be treated the same as the other auto admits like receiving all the communication saying “you have been admitted” “welcome to the Aggie family”, getting the banner and admitted info in the mail while simultaneously being told their spot is not secure in engineering and they may not get in
it’s like the kids are excited and still terrified/stressed at the same time.

Okay, gotcha. I see how “you are in” but are ya really in, would give ya the ick. Im wondering if it has to do with them legally having to admit to the univerisity as an auto admit. They can in fact change their major to something open while waiting for Eng decision. Or if they were to get teab or galveston/mcallen campus before getting the you’ve been admitted decision, it could skew the numbers for auto.
i’m guessing at this but it does make sense to me. Also makes sense that it stinks to have to wait for general eng major and then have to ETaM for the real major a year later.

Yes! I think this will be the course of action if he is not admitted as a freshman. The Spring 2028 transfer deadline is October 15, 2027., so he wants to take his planned 16 hours of DC in the spring 2027 (he adjusted some classes to ensure he meets requirements of his chosen major) plus he will take one class at the CC in the summer after graduation to ensure it is graded and done by the app deadline in October, and then 15 credits in the fall. This will give him 60 credits and an Associates degree by December 2027, and he will transfer in the spring 2028 in January (hopefully) as a Junior. I like this plan (money saver and he is at home for 1 semester), but he is hoping for good news soon! I will keep you posted. Y’all are so encouraging!

FYI for parents of NMSF kids. Just found out that the Fall National Scholar Day program will be held on Friday, Nov 20. This is targeted at recruiting students who might be considering TAMU and haven’t submitted their app (kinda late to recruit at this time if you ask me but I’m guessing they have a good reason). They’ll also have a Spring program (I don’t know of those dates - have asked) for students who’ve been accepted and are weighing TAMU against other options. If you don’t have an invite, you should email and find out (which is how I got this info).
