My daughter applied EA and was deferred (got into Baylor and Southwestern U among others). TCU is her first option, and she is considering ED2. Is ED2 worth it? Does that really increase the probability of getting in vs Regular Decision in anyone’s experience? She has a few offers to play a sport at good D3 schools but would need to either commit to the coach by Feb 1 or pass on D3 sports and roll the dice with ED2 at TCU. Her stats are OK, but not great: 3.5 UW GPA and 1250 from a top-notch public HS in NJ. Any insight from others would be appreciated.
Hi @lennywaldhauser,
Hard to answer with missing info like cost and major… but will try:
- Yes, ED2 can help a little getting admitted, but you’re pay full price probably.
- I tend to give a very large weight to a school where she can play sports, D3 or any D. The social life, support system, and fun she will have is huge. Of course assuming fit and cost are OK.
- Sports, cost, major, how far from home, having friends going to same school, size preference… are all dimensions that only your family can weight. It is a very personal preference, so ask her the right questions and come up with a weighting vector that is hers.
Anyone have an idea of TCU RD acceptance/decline date for Class of 2029
