Texas colleges with a 2.55 GPA

I need help getting into atleast a decent school in texas ! I have a 2.55 GPA and an ACT composite score of 22. I want to major in chemistry or economics. Help please !

University of Houston is a very decent and less-competitive school.

foafoa, please do some homework before you give advice like this. Houston is one of the 4 most competitive public schools in Texas.

With those figures, Houston would require you to be in the top 25 percent of your class if they were to allow you to apply. This is part of the minimum requirements for admission. Essentially, you would not be eligible to apply for admission at Houston.

However, there are many other pretty awesome schools you could apply to. Some realistic schools for you to apply to would be Texas State, UTSA, Sam Houston State, or UTEP.

OP, I would go to your school’s Naviance and look at the acceptances from your school to U of H and get a better idea of your chances there. It’s really difficult to get a firm reading about your chances when we don’t have the full application and we are not U of H college admissions. Apply but be realistic- think of it as a reach. Good luck!

I would look into Tech, Stephen F Austin or Tarleton. I might rethink Chemistry as a major though very competitive and demanding degree.

Oh add Texas State and Sam Houston to your search. UNT might be a possibility as well might be a stretch though.

Try Texas state, Stephen F Austin State and UT-San Antonio
