I am rather surprised that you focused upon that rather than that I was advocating for strong punishment no matter which side it was. False accusations matter a great deal, because they fan the flames of hate and reduce the acceptance of the many true accusations that are out there.

@hebegebe It’s because you didn’t even have a word to say about the first article before turning to your other. Like it was more of an instrument to make your own point than something to consider on its own for a moment.
If that’s not the case, my apologies, but it sure read that way.
I think it’s possible to quibble about differences (false accusations of harassment aren’t remotely as severe as false accusations of attempted manslaughter), but more broadly, I agree that false accusers should be punished. Interestingly, in @hebegebe 's links it’s clear that’s the case, so I don’t know why he needs to “hope” for it:
