Texbook Infomation

I am taking a geology course, according to the school book school the course requires this book
CUSTOM PHYSICAL GEOLOGY CH.1-13 W/LAB
By MONROE
Edition 6TH
Publisher: CENGAGE L
ISBN: 9781133268154

I tried googing the ISBN number, but there is no results because it appears to be a custom package sold only by the campus book store. Lucky, i was able to google the professor name and found a syllabus for a similar course that the professor teaches at a different school and it listed these requires book:
Lecture textbook: J.S. Monroe, R. Wicander, R. Hazlett: Physical Geology, sixth edition, Brooks/Cole Publisher
Lab Manual: C. Owen, D. Pirie, G Draper: Earth Lab Exploring Earth Sciences, second edition, Brooks Cole Publisher. Customized bundle: ISBN is 978-1-111-22805-7

I emailed the professor asking if they will be reuse the same books at my school for the course i am register in and they so far has not responded back to me.

For those who have more textbook knowledge, can someone help me out and figure whats included in the custom package and if i should be ok with purchasing the two books i mention. I do not want to buy a book early and find out the professor changed books at the last mine. Class starts in a week and half, so i will like to be prepare and buy books cheaper online

Sounds to me like you have an adjunct prof that teaches at more than 1 school. This means he does not set the textbook. More than likely he will have the same lecture and tests for both schools, as that is less work for him.

You might get away with buying the regular book without the special package… that being said some schools require certain things to be taught, and some texts are even partially rewritten if professors at the school have a really huge complaint about the text and the school is large enough.

If that is the case the school can require the adjunct (who is the low man on the totem pole) to teach what they say… whether he does it or not is a different story all together.

TL;DR? > to be safe buy the book.
