text newbie

Got a new phone today, with text capacity. As I already had unlimited on the family plan for the girls, figured it was time for me to catch up with the movement. Was sneaky and didnt tell them. Sent them the first text from me, only trouble was I didnt know where the space bar was, so it read something like this:

heygrlssurpriseitsmomgotanewphonettylluv

They cracked up. So its been buzzing all day driving me nuts! What possessed me to do this!?

is normally space, might even say “space” on the key

thanks Japher, dont I feel dumb! Slow too!

No reason to feel dumb. How could you possibly know? I give you credit for trying. Pretty soon you’ll love it.

also if you have the T9 feature which allows the test function to complete the words you are typing with a most common ending, be sure to read your text, my kids mkae fun of me when i don’t proofread!

It’s amazing how quickly your teens respond when you text them. I can call their phones and no one answers. I then text and amazingly I get a response within seconds (they are both boys so maybe not verbalizing is a gender thing). Good luck with the texting!

I text them from my computer sometimes. There is no need to learn any new tricks! I save my brain power for work. :D

I hated texting until I got the iPhone. I like how it keeps the tread so you could actually read it like a conversation.

I still haven’t got into the whole texting thing. Too much $ IMO for me, but for others it’s really, really useful.

We just got iPhones, too, and I am really enjoying how easy the texting is. Much easier and more immediate than e-mail. BTW: I love my iPhone! Really, really, really!

I know this isn’t an iPhone thread, but I just got mine on Saturday. I must say, my daughter was wrong; I have no trouble texting with it at all. I think I am much faster with the iPhone than my old cell phone. Sure I hit a wrong letter every so many words, but it is very easy to correct. Now my text messages are full sentences. I guess my daughter had no faith in her old mom’s ability to learn a new trick!!
