Textbook Help

So I just got a list of textbooks to get. For Biology 100 they listed 2 textbooks: What is Life? 3rd: A GUIDE TO BIOLOGY and What is Life? 2nd

Am I supposed to get both or just 1? I’m pretty sure the 3rd is just an updated version of the 2nd one… i don’t know why they list 2 options because for my other class (religious study) they also list 2 textbooks but different titles.

It would be ridiculus if you needed two of the same book, so hopefully you don’t. Maybe you have the option to get the older edition since it will be cheaper.

They’re probably two different editions of the same book. Do they list ISBN numbers? That might help you differentiate. They may be listed to let students know that either edition is fine. You can email the professor to ask or you can wait until class starts to get the syllabus and see if either textbook is necessary.

Does the class have a lab component? It’s possible that one of the books is a lab manual. Textbooks and lab manuals don’t always get updated at the same time. I’d look into it before assuming anything else. Try contacting the bookstore for clarification, and perhaps the professor if that doesn’t work.
