Textbooks for Self Study?

For the first time I’m planning to try self study for some provided AP courses. My question though is whether any experienced self studiers would recommend that I buy used textbooks as an aide. I’m guessing that it would be somewhat dependent on which courses, so my list as is follows:

  1. Stat
  2. Art History
  3. Environmental Science
  4. Psychology
  5. Lit (probably n/a, but just in case)
  6. World History
I’ve already compiled which prep books I’ll be ordering thanks to the “Consolidated book suggestions for AP” thread. Also if the answer is yes, specific recommendations would be much appreciated.

Stats: Modeling the World, and Practice of Statistics

Just read “Crime and Punishment” since you can use this novel for almost any “select the novel of your choice” question.

Earth and Its People: A Global History

However, all of these subjects can be independently studied without the need for a textbook.
