Take the quiz. I was surprised at my own results. I thought I was Boomer all the way!
I took the quiz and felt it was pretty accurate. GenX with a touch of Millennial (most likely due to working with Millennials and having a GenZ kid).
Same as you, and also same as you that I thought I’d be all Boomer.
I thought it was a dumb quiz. I got millennial. I am not millennial. My kids are not millennial either. I’m Gen X and they are Gen Z. They and I don’t use a lot of emojis. They never use the “ironic” emojis and honestly they are pretty edgy kids, definitely not mainstream. I would say 95% of the messages they send are emoji-less and most of the messages I send are w/o emojis. I do have one boomer friend I use a few with.
Mostly Gen X, with a dash of Millennial - sounds right to me!
My use of texting is to the pharmacy, “Yes” or “Y” to fill an Rx. To the doctor/dentist, “Y” to confirm an appt. And to my husband’s doctor if I need to order OTC meds they keep in the office. So probably don’t text like any of those categories.
Here are your full results:

Even though this quiz says I’m a touch of everything, I’m going with Boomer as most of my “text” communication is through FB messenger
My results may have been slightly screwed up as I couldn’t get one of the things to work, but I seem to be half-Boomer, half gen-X. FWIW I am a baby boomer and was a fairly early adopter (remember Prodigy?) My kids are millenials. One never texts at all. (That’s the one who is a computer programmer!) I never noticed but the younger one leaves off the final period. He used to get non-stop texts from friends, but much less so now. (The fact that he’s usually in a different time zone from them, or totally incommunicado probably contributes.)
I’m with you. 55% of the questions correct. Strong Boomer when it comes to style and etiquette (hooray!), but a mixture of millennial, Gen X and Gen Z when it came to use of emojis.
I am a boomer but got millennial for emojis, millennial with a touch of Gen Z for punctuation. Baby Boomer for style and etiquette and I got 64% of questions correct. Wish it was easier to share results.
Quiz says I’m equally Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X and Boomer. That’s impressively decisive.
To be honest, I think I’m mostly good at understanding those I care about who text me and I text back.
I’m a boomer, but my kids are mid-30s. My sibs are boomers but I interact and text with folks who can be many different ages professionally and as acquaintances.
I started using emojis to respond to family threads instead of having to type “cute” or “me too,” I’d use a heart or thumbs up emoji.
I text folks who are often 5-6 time zones apart from me so that makes me not expect prompt responses. I do expect more prompt responses when the subject matter is time sensitive or I will call.
