In honor of Veteran’s Day, let’s start a thread thanking the vets in our lives.
Please no political agendas, just thanks.

Thank you to my Dad and his four brothers who all served in the USNavy. Oldest enlisted at the end of WWII, youngest in the late '50’s. Service years varied from 6 years to career.

Thank you to my maternal grandfather for his USNavy service from 1930 to 1952.

D living in europe just visited a POW camp yesterday from WW2. She was curious about her great uncles POW camp from WW2. We looked up my uncles info on line -what stalag luft, etc. even where his bed was. It meant a lot to her since he has supported her and my other daughters education through a gift each year to their tuition- it does not come close to covering it but the gesture is greatly appreciated and priceless-and i let him know this! also, i thank my dad WW2, brother nucsub vet, and countless uncles and in-laws with purple hearts. Thanks to all.

Nice idea, Dragonmom. Thank you to all the veterans and those currently serving. Thank you to the families, too. Thank you to my brother’s first dad, who gave his life in the Korean War, to his second dad (also my dad) who served in the Coast Guard, and to my uncles who served in the Navy and Army.

Check out the Google home page today. Nice.

Thank you Grandpa for your service. He was in the Navy for almost 30 years and was onboard the USS West Virginia at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Thank you Dad. He was in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Thank you DH. He was in the Air Force. If he hadn’t joined, we would never have met at my first duty station in England. He got out and I stayed in. We reconnected 3 years later and got married. He went through a lot for me…playing Mr. Mom while I served our country during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. His resolve and strength made it easier for me to be an airman for 20 years.

Thank you to the Marines that I work with and all service members. We belong to that special military family, no special handshake required.

I thanked several veterans in person today, total strangers, but I am so glad I did and hope to do so every year from now on. Thanks to any vets who happen to be reading!

I want to thank my stepson, who did too many tours in Iraq to count; my husband, who served during the Vietnam era as a Navy corpsman; and my grandad who joined the Navy after Pearl Harbor was bombed.

I called my grandfather today to thank him for his service, thought it was important to let him know that I appreciate all he did for our country during Vietnam. If all goes as planned, will be following in his footsteps in a few years when I graduate from Navy ROTC.
