My housekeeper has the flu.
Yikes!
^yes
they can eat a lot!!
Can someone make it to a grocery early a.m.
Buy a big pan of frozen mac and cheese.
Serve it in your own bowl.
Mission accomplished.
Let them think it is homemade.
Also an extra 1-2 loaves of bread.
Hopefully, they will bring something to share.
BB,
Will you take food to them?
I offered! They said they will do Thanksgiving 2.0 with us next weekend. I bought another turkey today.
oregon, yup we’re going to need to run to Meijer in the morning anyway. I managed to fall and hurt my leg tonight so I need to get a wrap for it tomorrow. (I’ll be fine- it’s just really bruised up and my knee is swollen.Nothing is broken or anything.)
Luckily I brought my wheelchair with me
We had t’giving two years ago in Boston at my cousin who mentors international grad student from Harvard.2 Chinese couples and couple from S Korea (and their adorable 1 yr old,) and just us and S. It was really fun and imo nicer than my typical family t’giving where 40 + people spend dinner talking over each other and it just keeps getting louder and louder as evening progresses.
@romanigypsyeyes, ice it!
H is off to run 10k Turkey Trot and S is still sleeping. He went out late last night to meet up with friends from high school. So glad finally Uber is here.
S1 is still sleeping - no surprise. DH, who’s in charge of mashed potatoes, has decided to use the crockpot to keep them warm. Good year to try out that strategy since it’s only the 3 of us & we’ll be fine with however that turns out.
I still haven’t decided how I’m making the mashed potatoes this year. In bed with my coffee. His off playing tennis. We will head to my in laws after lunch. My D is already there. I can’t wait to give her a hug.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Making the traditional drive to my mom’s house with Alice’s Restaurant playing. Only play that one time a year. Ralph Lauren skirt on but bringing jeans. Feel obligated to match DH’s dress level.
We had T’day last night with friends when both S3 and DD could be there. Relaxing today watching the parade, the dog show and football
My friend and I always split Thanksgiving dinner and we do it when most can make it.
This Thanksgiving, I am very thankful for my gas grill.
(As Mr. Big Procrastinator (lol) is still messing with the shelf for the second oven! )
Lovely time today, feeling lucky. Best to all.
We’re done. German and Greek guy were very, very nice and funny. Dinner was yummy. We eat at the Lions halftime.
Now we’re poking through Black Friday ads to see if there’s anything worth getting.
Happy T’giving everyone.
I am watching Macy parade now. I like Sabrina Carpenter.
I am on a paddle wheeler on Mission Bay after too much buffet.
We got together at D’s BF’s mom’s house. It’s our new thing since last Christmas to share the holidays, because we want to spare “the kids” the anxiety of rushing around to all the houses. It’s been working out great. BF’s mom is very laid back about entertaining.I bought two side dishes and three pies. Overall, a relaxing and pleasant holiday.
I read and inspiring Facebook post from my old school friend. She’s lost her mom, dad and most recently her husband to cancer. She spent Thanksgiving with her ex-in laws, including her ex-husband and his wife. They’ve remained friendly over the years even after divorce, and they welcomed her with open arms. I just thought that was a wonderful example of how people can be good to each other.
Grilled turkey was perfect. While it was on the grill, Mr. managed to install the warming drawer. Yay! With the functional warming drawer, and turkey on the grill, I was able to make a lot of dishes with just one oven.
While everything was cooking, Mr. installed the second oven. Bliss. B-) No more loose ovens on the kitchen floor!
Thanksgiving 2.0 will be easy.
H made his regular fabulous smoked turkey in the ceramic smoker. We head for my sister’s in a few hours and will have a great time with extended family plus all the others my sister likes to include.
For the first time, I was solo in charge if Thanksgiving.
A nice cheddar with orange and cranberry and mini cukes stuffed with pimento cheese and opened the beaujolais nouveau start; Roasted Turkey Breast (a la Pierre Franey), twice baked russet potatoes, scalloped sweet potatoes, gluten free stuffed mushrooms, butter-minted glazed carrots, green salad (MIL contribution), green beans (DD prepared). Clementines then gluten free desserts - pumpkin/praline pie, apple tart, topped with ice cream.
DH loved this holiday; I think I did that man proud!
^ wow @mominva - that sounds fabulous!
Great day here. D,SIL,S, S’s friend and I started with running in a local Turkey Trot. H (the head chef in our house) was concerned that we got a late start on the cooking, but all worked out anyway. I fixed a few sides as well as the pumpkin pies and S’s friend ( a lovely young British woman enjoying her first Thanksgiving) made a desert and side. Guests arrived at 1 PM for apps and wine and dinner was at 4. We host the same close friends (our Thanksgiving family) every year.
