apple vs pumpkin Which one are you planning for Thanksgiving?
^^^Cherry
^^Really, I don’t know how to make anything with cherry.
I love cherry pie and you have to wait for particular seasons (unless you go with frozen.) Another fav is rhubarb, which has even shorter availability, in summer.
If you want to make it from scratch, raclut, the easiest way is dump a can of cherry pie filling into a crust and bake.
Cherry pie must be really tart.
Haha.
This Pumpkin Polenta sounds yummy: http://www.purewow.com/recipes/Pumpkin-Polenta?utm_medium=email&utm_source=recipe&utm_campaign=How_Not_to_Screw_Up_Your_Thanksgiving_Turkey_2015_11_04&utm_content=null_editorial
Both. Apple and Pumpkin.

^ That’s a keeper.
We just decided Tday will be Saturday, when more of us can be together.
^^Pie strategies for millennials?
@raclut #100 That’s a false choice. We’re having both!
@Lasmas In previous Thanksgiving celebrations, my friend hosted the dinner and asked the guests to bring desserts.
We would have a complete dessert bar with a variety of things.
Raclut, which “one” pie are we having? I usually do two pumpkin, one fruit and one pecan. Sometimes the pecan is a caramel tart or tartlets. The fruit is usually Apple but sometimes berry.
The first pumpkin pie is breakfast for thanksgiving day. Really, other than being too high in sugar, pumpkin pie is a pretty good breakfast and frees up the kitchen so I can stuff Tikey Turkey and get him into the oven. (Seattle residents who remember JPPatches will understand).
106 - yum and sigh. Mr. hates both polenta and pumpkin. Maybe I should still make it. More food for me!!! :D
We have both apple and pumpkin. The pumpkin pie recipe on the can makes 2 pies, and I always made 2 apple pies as it’s so hard to make small slices. Last year, D2 offered to make the pies, and she also wanted a cherry. Couldn’t say no… it was her first time home freshman year (since move-in), and we had less people than usual, so it ended up being 5 pies for 8 people!
Love apple pie but we don’t make it at Thanksgiving.
For us, its pumpkin, pecan, and chocolate silk pies at Thanksgiving. And plenty of freshly whipped cream. Nothing like adding more calories to an already caloric meal!
BB, there are a couple of items on our menu that only I like. Hey, I’m doing the cooking, I get what I want, right? Go for it!
Lucky for me, DD and I both like the same things so we can make whatever we want.
I just want simple but nice. Not too much to overwhelm. Don’t want to go overboard that I feel super heavy after eating.
I going to be careful what I eat over the holidays but will enjoy a little bit of dessert. Make sure to go on daily long walks.
In our family it is pumpkin and mincemeat pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Apple pie is done all fall up to Thanksgiving.
