Pretty much everyone that got accepted somewhere ED had “that feeling” haven’t they? It’s like a feeling of emptiness/wonder because you’ll never know where else you would have gotten accepted into due to the fact that you signed a statement saying that you would withdraw your applications from all other universities as soon as you’re accepted.

That feeling that you maybe nudged out someone else who might’ve really wanted to go to that school that you were accepted to, but you just wanted to see if you could get into even though you had no intentions of going?

Great feeling!

I second Obstinate’s sarcasm. It doesn’t matter how many or what schools you get into after you get in ED - you’re not going to any of them. You got into your first choice and that should be all that matters.

Is this just morbid curiosity, or is it that you are wondering if your ED school really is the best place for you?

I can understand that “what if…” feeling. I think people sometimes second guess themselves and wonder if they would be happier somewhere else or watch everyone else get caught up in the fear/anxiety/excitement of spring admission season and wonder about being part of it.

I think the security of knowing where you are going is great. But I can understand why the OP might wonder a bit.

My son was accepted ED and has never looked back! Unless you are absolutely sure of where you want to go without reservation do not apply ED…

Uh, I was working with someone who could not afford all of the application/test score fees/ overall cost of applying, who took a chance and applied to one school ED in the hopes that he/she would get in so there would be no extra cost. Fortunately the student was admitted to a top 10 university and because of the financial aid initiative was able to get a full ride as the family EC was ZERO.

Point being, some kids don’t have a choice. Be grateful for what you have. This student was by no means feeling “empty” but was thrilled.

a friend of mine from hs was accepted ED, but her parents made her apply to other schools regular decision to see where else she would get into. not really fair to kids who would actually take those spots.

I’m pretty sure that’s also a risk to their spot ED, FWIW. Hopefully she didn’t apply to peers of her ED school that share information.
