The 10 funniest college mascots

The article calls them strange. I find them funny!
[10 Strangest College Mascots](http://www.footballbabble.com/football/college/mascots/)

My favorite is always RISD’s (Rhode Island school of Design) “scrotie” (do check out the photo). The Hockey team is the “nads”, the basketball team is the “balls” and the cheerleaders are the “jockstraps” (because they support… well you get it).

My second favorite is always UC Santa Cruz’z banana slug. Apparently it is an animal that proportionate to its body, has the largest… err… male organ.

Those are funny, some sort of kinky(?)

Stanford may have the tree, but they won’t like that the article calls the teams “Cardinals” when they are “Cardinal”.

I my D’s conference about half of the teams are Tigers. Boring.

MY s’s are/were an owl and a rolling wave (which was briefly a pelican at one time)

There is one interesting team name mear you, I think. Stormy Petrels, Oglethorpe U.

I think Scrotie wins this contest.

However, I always thought that the Horned Frog from Texas Christian was amusing.

Years ago we had a nanny from a small town in Idaho. Their high school teams were the “Mighty Russets”.

My college mascot was not quite as weird as these…
Tufts Jumbos

Yep, I’ve got to agree that Scrotie is a hard mascot to beat.

Scrotie is pretty bad. The outfit the mascot wears is a little disturbing.

The University of South Carolina is the Gamecocks. When I was visiting South Carolina I walked into a sports bar during a football game. The whole bar was screaming "GO *****! That seemed a little odd to me also.

edit - I got bleeped! I guess the CC censors agree!

Violadad,
I cannot believe your post #8 made it past the censors! LOL. I gotta hand it to you.

Gloworm,
I didn’t even know Oglethorpe had any teams!

It’s like the mascots are thought up by 14 yr old boys.

Reed College has a griffin- also the Doyle Owl- both popular long before Harry Potter

Although no football.
[The women’s rugby team is pretty fierce , however.](http://douglassquirrel.com/art.html)

Hey, mascot at S’s school is on this list – WPI’s goat! Stealing the goat’s head is still a big deal on campus. And then there’s the “Goat’s Head Restaurant” on campus …

soozievt – my father went to Tufts. My brothers and I grew up knowing all about “Jumbo.”

Then there’s the Whitman College cheer
“Missionaries, Missionaries, We’re on Top”…

OK, never mind.

My vote is for the geoduck.

And, putting the Horned Frogs into this catagory will get you many replies… Great school, great school spirit. (and lots of merit money if you are looking…)

syracuse is an orange…seriously…an orange!

Williams is purple cow. Honestly?

Another vote for the TCU Horned Frog here - funny but pretty cute at the same time.

Now I wouldn’t wear that band uniform with “FROGS” on the back - just strange…

We watched the Rose Bowsl-- when that Horned Frog mascot appeared, my DH said it looked like something from Power Rangers!

I thought you were joking, so I looked it up. Yep, Otto the Orange.

I would really like to have that geoduck costume.

soozievt – I was hoping someone would mention the Tufts Jumbo! :D

Diane, Tufts MA
