The 2010 Calculus BC Study Thread

Where does it say 65? I generally see 70 out of 108.

same with xrCalico, I had NO idea how to do it. I got the first part of A, and the last part of D, but I skipped B and C… the MC was easy but the FRQs… oh lord…

I felt good about everything except for 6 on the FRQ. We never went into Taylor series… :[ I hope I get a point or two for writing out the Mclaurin for Cos(x), though.

if you never did taylor series how did you do any of the mc related to taylor series?

^ I self-taught myself this past weekend, just not well enough to answer something like the FRQ.

mcclaurin is taylor series just centered around x=0

I am going to commit suicide, see you heaven/hell in early July everyone…

"I felt good about everything except for 6 on the FRQ. We never went into Taylor series… :[ I hope I get a point or two for writing out the Mclaurin for Cos(x), though.

@cheeseball: same here!! I self studied the C portion but never had time to learn the Taylor series, and was kind of hoping that a hard series problem wouldn’t show up on the test - but obviously, like always, exactly the opposite of what I was hoping for happened. I only wrote down “1 - x^2/2!..”, so hopefully I’ll get a point there.

Totally aced this test…

I don’t even know why that 1/2 = 0 was there lol

You are kidding right?

yeah i had no idea what was going on >.<

Actually, no. I’m pretty confident that I’ll get a 5, but I’m a math geek.

If everyone on this thread is noting the sheer impossibility of #6, its safe to say that pretty much everyone bombed it. That’s bound to improve the curve, right??

I was going strong until the very last Free Response hit me. I spent like 15 minutes on (a).

I understand that only a certain amount of questions were BC related and most of the other stuff was AB. When they give us a score for the AP Calculus BC Exam, do they throw out the AB questions or are those included? I’m aware that the AB subscore is solely AB problems.

I know what the expansion for cosx was, but that 1/2 = x = 0 thing just tipped me off lol

So much easier than the practice test we took omgg… I’m so happy!
I had plenty of time left over to check for every section except the calculator FR because I wasn’t too familiar with my calculator ;x; but I managed to go back to check it because I finished second section of FR in 15 mins :D

high-5!!! (ahaha get it?)
but be glad everybody; it’s over :D

onward to learning half of the physics course material by monday… whoopee.

Wow, I can’t wait until the 48 hours is up. I’m really curious to see this problem #6 now!

in class in the past week we literatly did probably 15 series frq’s. so i actually loved frq6. i aced that test. if i didn’t get a five, well maybe i need to change my college major…

I think I did alright, like everyone (well most everyone else) else, I thought MC was pretty easy while the free response was TOUGH, especially the last question.

Now that I think about it, the FRQs weren’t terrible, just the last one and a few parts of the others. The curve on the last question should be outstanding though, hah.

Did anyone think any Multiple Choice questions were tricky? I could answer all but one! Hopefully a low 5 - my school doesn’t take 4s. UGH.

^ Yeah, some of the MC, I had to think about twice or more. I think I skipped 6 total. I’m a bit paranoid since when I did the 2008 exam, I got 31 right and 11 wrong, which brought me down, so I figured skipping is more beneficial than guessing, especially with the curve.
