Hello, I just completed my Sophomore Year in Chemical Engineering and I ended up with a 3.91 GPA and 3.92 sGPA

I was just wondering if it is worth working really hard to bring it back up to 3.94, 3.95. OR, would it be better to relax a little bit and enjoy life, and just keep it above 3.9.

I guess my question is: Will I be less competitive having a GPA of 3.9 rather than 3.95 or 3.96, like does it make a big difference? Or should I be focusing on other stuff?

Do you really think you can calibrate the amount of study/effort required so precisely? What if your calibrations are wrong and you get a couple of D’s? Take courses you enjoy and the studying won’t seem to be a drag.

At that level exact GPA doesn’t matter much. Focus on other stuff. Prep for the MCAT and make yourself an interesting candidate. Do research. Travel. Volunteer as a research assistant. Develop an unusual hobby.

The best is to do both, have a balanced life. Work hard, get as high GPA as pssible and also relax, spend time with friends, participate in non-academic activities. Calculating does not work. How you calculate the difference in study for A and A-? It is unrealistic and complete waste of time. Doing your personal best is always a goal.
