Forever is an awfully long time…
Live forever in E. Lansing, MI?
Austin is not on the list?? Many UT graduates love the city so much they do stay forever. Can’t see someone picking East Lansing over Austin, ha.
A Spartan must have been on the editorial board.
@MaineLonghorn agreed! And I say this as an OU alum. Austin is a far better place to live than many other places on this list, particularly if you’re older than 25 and not a professor.
Anyone who thinks that Lawton, OK is the best college town in OK has never been to Lawton. Even most Oklahoma State fans will admit that Norman, OK is the best college town in the state.
Also Long Beach and Malibu aren’t college towns. Long Beach is a proper city that happens to have a university in it catering to the local population. Malibu has a medium sized private school isolated from the main section of town. Plus it’s far too expensive for most non wealthy people to live in.
Malibu is a “college town”?
Clickbait.
@katliamom I drive by Pepperdine all the time, it’s a very Catholic private uni “in” Malibu. But Santa barbara is right up the coast and UCSB is there, and not on the list. This list is stupid.
@JenJenJenJen, actually Pepperdine is Church of Christ - very different from Catholic.
Not surprised to see Ithaca, NY on the list. My family all fell in love with the area when we visited. (Although, ironically, not with the college for undergraduate studies.)
A bustling town with many ethnic restaurants, two colleges and all the benefits those provide, and the most amazing natural beauty: the lake, gorges, waterfalls, endless hiking trails… who wouldn’t want to live there?!!
Oh, sorry, @MaineLonghorn ! I just knew it wasn’t “lightly” religious like Chapman a few miles south.
@JenJenJenJen, I know about Pepperdine, I just think it’s funny to call Malibu a college town.
I mean, NYU, a huge school, is in Manhattan, yet no one would ever call it a “college town.”
Some of the others on that list are really ridiculous and …I don’t know, insulting to the intelligence. I can’t imagine a recent grad being able to afford life in Malibu though!
Biggest surprises for me were Syracuse & South Bend. Though they might be ranked high in “Best places to film a horror movie and not have to spend a dime to make the place look creepy” and “Best cities in which to take a nap & not worry that you missed something interesting happen,” respectively.
Most glaring omission: Iowa City.
Duluth, MN is nothing special
I can’t believe Davis, CA didn’t make the list.
“Duluth, MN is nothing special”
Understatement of the millennium, so far.
I would not want to live in South Bend, Indiana forever, no offense.
I would not want to live in the majority of those towns, no offense
I agree about Davis and where is San Luis Obispo?
South Bend is rated higher than Boulder. :))
