Education:
Bachelors: Business and Finance.
Masters: Software Engineering (oh my, the pre-reqs I had to go back and do - but the aerospace company paid for all, so great!).

Employment: Financial Counseling, Defense Industry, SAHM when kids were little, Substitute Teaching (when kids were in school), ran major school fundraisers (obviously not paid!), helped a friend open an appliance business and actually was pretty good at selling appliances…who knew! (that was FUN!), a few other things, and now managing our rental properties.

CC people that I’ve met…I’ve met many CC people. Mostly all have kids attending Alabama or are current Bama students who are on CC. Met many of them at a “group meets” at a Bama Bound Orientation and Parents Weekend. However, I have had people come up to me on Bama’s campus and ask me, “Are you Mom2CollegeKids”? Seriously! When I’m not doing anything odd…just standing in line at Starbucks or whatever.

ScreenName: I was born in Austin and attended UT for six years, so I will always be a Longhorn, but we moved to Maine in 1986.

Education: BS in Architectural Engineering; MS in Engineering

Job: DH and I own our consulting firm, so I’m a structural engineer, bookkeeper, AutoCAD drafter, secretary, etc.

Random fun facts: I am about the most unathletic person in the world, but I started running in 2006 and have done quite a few races, including 3 half-marathons, one of which was in Las Vegas, where I met MomofWildChild (she is a fast runner!).

Three hundred years later…never left the family…my cousin farms it now. My grandmother and her twin sister attended Guilford College. I have her 1918 diploma.

CC’ers I’ve met: none in the flesh but have a strong friendship with someone I met on CC five years ago who’s not on CC anymore. We’ve never met IRL but talk on the phone/email, frequently and consider ourselves close friends. DH thinks that’s nuts. He doesn’t understand the power of CC :)

I’ve met peskemom and a few others in person several years ago when our children all attended the same school. Have stayed in touch with her and correspond with several others via the message board here.

There isnt anything random about me, predictable and boring.

Your entire life can change in 7 years, especially when you’re young. I’d love to see what my college senior would post about his life 7 years from now.

Oh, I strongly disagree. A lot happens between 22 and 29. At 22 I was a college student. By 29 I was married and a mommy, and yes, there were jobs along the way, too.

Apologies if I was unclear. Her HISTORY to that point (2005) would not change between then and now. What has happened since, of course, is another story.

Screen name: Refers to Kid 1. I came to CC when Kid 1 scored well on her PSAT … wondered what that might mean in terms of college. Got hooked on CC, and S is a bit bent out of shape about the screen name. Too late, because he is three years after his sister!

Education: Bachelor of Industrial Administration from a small cooperative engineering school. Basically, it is a hybrid industrial engineering/manufacturing management degree.

Jobs: At 23, I was a production supervisor in a truck plant, working in body shop and paint shop. I moved into higher ed, working in admissions, cooperative programs, registrar’s office, and financial aid. Had kids, stayed home, volunteered (you name it, I chaired it), worked to improve our town’s public school system, worked as a lunch attendant (lunch room and playground at an elementary school), worked as a guest teacher (mostly high school, but a lot of elementary, too). Got back into financial aid, but left to pursue another opportunity (group benefits). My dream job fell from the sky, and I am moving on from the current job to a managerial job in higher ed.

CCers I have met: a mom from Brentwood, TN who is no longer on CC that I met at a scholarship event at Furman; a young man at Furman who is no longer on CC; momofwildchild.
Other Random facts: My in laws have a cottage on an island in southwest Michigan, and I love spending time there (in the summer only, since you have to take a car ferry to get there).

And apologies again, but I should have clarified the comment in post #33 that I was responding to the OP where she said she hadn’t found a thread like this so decided to start one. My tongue-in-cheek comment was in reference to the fact that while she couldnt find a thread like this, she had in fact posted in a thread like this before. But it was a long time ago and it took me a while to find it. Apologies for being obtuse.

Worked in HR since then, mainly in the benefits field. Worked for both corporations as benefits director and consulting firms as consultant.

Fun facts: Had open heart surgery at age 29 to repair a congenital defect. May be a fun fact, but was not a fun experience.
