That’s right. Instead of being limited to professional athletic teams, now colleges can pick the best high school candidates out of the whole crop- but only one at a time. Let’s make a cutoff based on SATs- you need a 2100 to be included in the draft for the top 20 schools or so. Schools will see the whole application, candidates can go to their “facilities” for a “workout” session, and schools can trade picks for individual students or other incentives.

Harvard, you’re on the clock.

Hey, at the very least, wouldn’t this add some entertainment to the otherwise (random) process? Can you imagine ESPN coverage of the Academic draft, little kids sitting at home watching? Afterwards, adcoms could give their reasons for picking a particular candidate (…or they could just read a generic “rejection letter”) and students could be interviewed.

So who else thinks this ought to be implemented? Skip the stupid guessing game, let’s just turn the system inside out in a final ironic gesture.
