"The Americans" FX Series

I watched the latest episode last night and spent the entire time worried about the wig. The only hugely implausible part I can’t get past is the fbi agent just happening to move in across the street. I wish they would have done it the other way around - have them be looking for houses near the fbi agents to move into.

And I don’t think we’re supposed to know what to think about Elizabeth - she’s a complicated character.

Oh - I saw an interview with Philip - I’ve seen him in so many things I had no idea he wasn’t American, that’s some thick accent he’s got!

But, but he cheats on his wife, a wife who is more than willing to work on their marriage, and he killed the innocent Vlad…:(

Calmom, thank you for the cassette player link but it looks it was manufactured in the 2000s rather than in the early 80s. I found this 1980 ad for a cassette player though: [1980-xx-xx Sears Christmas Catalog P435 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■/photos/wishbook/3104302600/)

I still don’t think “hitting the pause button” was a common idiom back in 1981. I suppose Phillip started it.

The Americans surely love chicken in the latest episode. At the beginning of the episode, the kids were talking about their love for fried chicken and at the end of the episode, Stan kills the poor Vlad while eating a chicken sandwich.

I meant fantastic actor. The good guys aren’t necessarily good.

DH and I have been following this. It’s a little gritty/PG-13 for me production wise. I still get taken off guard when the violence and sex push beyond what I’m used to seeing…just into my “it’s time to refill my water bottle” zone. I have a really hard time not rooting for the Russians also. I knew it was going to be that way from the beginning. I think Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell are excellent. I’m am surprised, but I haven’t been impressed with Richard Thomas in this series, writing or character, who knows?

^ I have an easy time rooting against the Russians…they are spies, cheats, and cold as ice(especially Elizabeth)

Love this show. So many current shows feature anti- heroes: Mad Men, Breaking Bad to name a couple. Why do you suppose we connect with this pair of Russian spies who do any and every awful thing for the “motherland?”

We love this show. Ours also cut off early, too, last week. Argh!

We were having withdrawals after they skipped a week.

Can’t stand Martha! My God, what is this woman doing working for the government! What a security risk!

PS. Thanks for the link to watch the episodes. All I can say is : Whoa!

Well the first season is over. Spolier alert…

I was so nervous. I don’t want Keri Russell’s character to die.

I thought it was a great final.

I have no idea what is going to happen next year…

But Keri Russell will still be on the show… :)

When our favorite shows go on hiatus its like having one your best friends leave town for a year. They may write, but I want to see something new. Great show.

I really miss Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm…gone but not forgotten.

Glad Nina looks like she’ll be back too. She’s my favorite character.

I’m super intrigued by the previews of “The Bridge”. The remake of a European show… Looks creepy and awesome! A family friend is working on that show too.

Bevhills, I like those shows too.

The new season of Homeland has to be coming soon.
I like Nina too.

Looking forward to last season Dexter in late June. I gotta dark side with the shows I like. :)

Lol…

Why do I keep falling in love with shows that only have 12 per season?

I found it quite touching that Elizabeth sat and listened to her mom’s recordings to her in the laundry room.

They may not like their handler, whose name I now forget, but she certainly tries to protect them.

I could have lived without the sex scene with Martha.
