Well, since there is an Exeter Thread, I thought it would be a good idea to open up a formal thread to any Andover applicants. I am a first-year student at Andover, and I would love to answer any questions about the school, the application process, or anything else on your mind…

I’m thinking about applying and joining as an 11th grader. What exactly do they look for. Also, would it even be a good idea to try and adapt to it in the most important year?

I don’t want to steal 09’s thunder because this is his thread and all but in the interests of answering you question, I would say that it would be quite tough. I had trouble during my first trimester at Andover, (freshman fall was tough enough! Upper fall is exponentially more difficult even without transition issues) and I would be lying if I said you wouldn’t experience some sort of adjustment issues. I’d say go for it, however, I know a lot of people who spent just 2 years at Andover and had a phenomenal time, just be prepared for a bit of a battle at first. But hey, we have to work for the good things in life, right?

no problem xGodsFavoritex; anyone from andover feel free to respond. I basically agree with xGodsFavoritex, it is very hard to be accepted as a new upper. However, several people that I know have entered Andover in 11th grade, and have had no problem adjusting to the workload and environment. So hypergreenbean, if your up for the challenge: go for it!

Hi guys.

I’m applying to Andover and Exeter for freshman year. Current Andover students: What were your SSAT scores? Were you accepted into Exeter, as well?
