Wonder if a church or the Boys and Girls Club would want it?

Hereās a guide to valuable Hot Wheels
2 black bags just went in the bin (couple of margaritas and my English appears). Took some old tax files to the office to shred and will see if anyone there wants the folders. Iām making progress but I donāt āseeā it yet. I know a moment will come where I do.
Keep it up, @swimcatsmom. Everything thatās out of your house is a win.
I took out the trash today. I believe this counts.
Pre move cleanout continuesā¦H found a bunch of paper plates, paper bowls, plastic cups (including the iconic red Solo ones) and foil pans in the basement storage. He did not think anyone on Buy Nothing would be interestedā¦I posted them and only 13 people (at last count) wanted them.
More BN today. Card table/w 4 chairs and another longaberger basket gone. I just keep finding more stuff to gift. D and SIL are here- D cleaned out the last remaining stuff in her room- 2 bags of trash, 2 bags to donate and a few things she will take with her.
I posted in the indoor plant thread that I re homed my lemon tree (I have had it for many years) and a friend now has it. It will be well cared for and Iāll get updates!
Awesome day today. My daughter came by. We were planning to do more on the tee shirt quilts but I havenāt been feeling well and hadnāt had the energy to go through and unearth more shirts for the quilt yet. So she helped me go through her old room which has a lot of her stuff plus has been a dumping ground to try and keep the living area liveable. So much quicker when you have someone helping. Partly, well, someone helping. Partly she is much more ruthless - and it also helps that if I donāt even see something Iāve forgotten existed and she chucks it then Iām not sitting agonizing over it.
8 big bags of stuff plus one to donate. She took 4 bags to put in her trash - her city has a scheme where you can buy 5 sturdy special colored bags for $7 and they can be outside the trash bin - we used 3 and she left a couple here - one half full already. I can fit 2 in mine then 2 for next week. Still quite a bit to do in her room but s huge amount of progress. She was going to check into whether some of the Barbies in boxes would be worth trying to sell on ebay.
Itās amazing how much more got done with an extra pair of hands. A lot = moral support. A lot = physical. She did a lot more than me cause I canāt do much right now without getting short of breath (
scan tomorrow after some other tests last week).
I canāt remember if I had posted this - I meant to. I was talking to a friend who moved from here some years ago. She said she got rid of a lot of stuff when they moved by sending it to auction. Talking things like ornaments and husbandās tools etc. An auction company took them then they were sold in some big auction. Didnāt make a lot of $$$ but some. They were sent an itemized list. Something I plan to look into for sure.
A friend near me used Auction Ninja. Donāt know if itās national, though.
What great progress! Last year my daughter made a pass through her old room, more ruthless that Iād be (and I did rescue a few items). She tossed tons of high school and college notebooks / paper and books and other stuff. It felt good, even though still lots of stuff left in her old room and sonās old room. And toys/games that I stashed under the stairs in the basement.
@Colorado_mom the toys will be hard to make a decision on. and we have a lot! Had thought weād keep some for grandkids. Looks like there will just be the one - our 6 month old granddaughter - daughter does not want kids at all and son and dil have decided on just the one. And they live 1200 miles away.
We started out keeping all kinds of toys and books. Thomas the tank engine and his ilk are not cheap. I had all my Dr. Seuss books from when I was a child. Eventually, we decided we had to get rid of them. Our storage is so limited.
I picture some other children somewhere putting those toys and books to good use. Dr Suess would approve.
We gave all of it to a learning center
My mom bought every single Dr Suess book for D. After my kids outgrew them I donated all of them to the elementary school library (they had some copies, but they were very popular and almost always checked out). At the time, I volunteered and subbed in the library and whenever I checked one out to a child I took a quick peek to see if my momās handwriting was in the front
My mom knew that they were donated to the library and she loved that lots of kids (in addition to mine) were able to enjoy the books.
House goes on the market Friday morning. Todayās Buy Nothing give aways are: a Nespresso milk frother and a Radio Flyer Town and Country wagon. H cleaned out the pantry and we donated a bunch of stuff and threw away another bag (I felt guilty about thatā¦).
The best news is that H contacted the piano seller we bought from 20 years ago and they will buy our piano back. Its an upright Yamaha (a friend says its a rare model in the US). Best part is that they will even pick it up!
Wow! That was the easiest piano reduction Iāve ever heard of!!
Agree. Pianos are hard
I donāt remember if I mentioned about our family piano on this thread or another one: We donated ours to a senior facility. They were delighted. They moved it. I visit occasionally to hear it played (usually much better than when in the family!). Win-win.
