The Bangladeshi Thread

@darthh>> aahhh only medal i got was Daily Star hahahahaha

@ arif: Like I care about "bhais’ and “apus” ! :p

Taking a gap year is wayyyyyyyyy better than aplying in a senior year. You have more time to prepare and plus you are more mature. Its quite hard to do all ECs, study hard for upcoming A Levels and keeping up with applications. And also its not necessarily a gap year. You finish A levels in June and start applying in October. Most students in South Asia and Europe follow this system.

Yehhh shes gone of to MyMIT website to sstart hehe

^LOL

I kind of miss akashdip posting in these threads.
That was one hyperactive kid.

I feel like the least active one here…i guess that would have been a good thing if I was spending the time doing the supplements, which are, to be frank, killing me.

Supplements are a nuisance buddy.

Specially the ones that contain “Why College X” and “Why major in Y” essays.

@Darth>>> SPOT ONN>> nd u know i really juss wanna ansa sumtimes “I CHOSE COLLEGE X COZ ITS GOT GREAT FINAID” you know wat i mean??? haha

I actually find the “Why college X?” interesting. I mean there were reasons why I chose that college; all they ask me to do is to put it on paper.

One of the most frustrating things is the word limit. I mean even the first two lines of this very post took around 30 words.

That is true. Most schools impose a limit of around 200-300 words for that essay. I feel Why College X essay should be around 500 words to let us properly explain our reasons for choosing that college.

I think these essays are pretty important as they are used to determine “fit”. Then again so many people apply to so many places that at the end of the day, whatever answer you write for the "why college x " prompt, adcomms are well aware of your reasons. Many of the reasons keep on surfacing during different admission seasons so adcomms are expecting all the answers.

@DarthSpawnus- was that hypothetical or u actually knw the guy who has an olympiads award, 2200++ in SAT 1 and is a WSDC participant? i mean i knw him & it makes me freak out!

Hypothetically.

I just know that one guy in the current WSDC team went to IPho. I don’t have his stats but he just freaks me out.

This time, 7 people from my school only has 2200+ SAT scores and 750+ SAT II scores.

yes i am talking abt him.i knw him & his stats really well. heres more 2 freak u out…

he got 2320 in SAT1 (1st take). 2380 in SAT2. 4 A* in A Levels (perhaps 1 in bio also!). IPho & wsdc country topper.!! Already has standby offers @ HKU & an Australian uni. Got into top BD unis this tym. Dream school…YALE!

i am pretty sure abt da stats but excuse me if i missed out on anythng…

Hmm those are some solid stats. Which BD university did he get into?

top engineering unis…just dont wanna mention much…he is gonna kill me…

interestingly, there was another girl last year with similar stats…yeah no IPho awards…but she didnt make it to any US uni…i am pretty sure u knw her well.

I think I know him. Might have bumped him at some debate tourneys.

Don’t know the girl though. Are these two people from same school? Then might know her.

you know the girl, at least u know her virtually. & yeah they r from the same school. she was also into debating.she is now @ a leading canadian uni. the reason why i mentioned abt this girl might b absurd! i feel a bit at ease when i see that people with great stats did not make it, i mean i feel gud abt myself basically. i know thats mean.

oh yes I know them both.

I thought the guy applied last time and didn’t get anywhere in US. Is he applying again?

probably he applied…i m not sure.but he is applying again, thats for sure! scary…
the girl had a bad luck or sumthng…i mean she really deserved gud. cant understand wat went wrong.i cant even understand why am i discussing abt these ppl…i mean luk at my condition! i am nowhere near them…

One question.

Are you sending the supplements online through common app website? Or are you sending them via fed ex?

And there are some supplements which have space on them for the short answers. Are you going to write in the space provided? or will you write “see attached” and attach a separate page with the supplement form?

I feel that its best not to dwell on other people’s stats and applications.

Stranger things have had happened in admissions so lets wait and see.
