The Bangladeshi Thread

Hey guys, long time! @Eatyoualive: Got into mcgill too mechanical primary, electrical second choice lol:), but scholarships a big problem for me too. I didn’t apply for the major scholarship, but isn’t there another entrance scholarship and some minor alumni scholarships? I read about them on the website, n they said you don’t need to fill out any extra applications. Any chance at having a shot at them, and if so, when do they usually send out notices?
@RoughE: I had my Columbia interview on Jan 28th via phone (coz I couldn’t go to dhaka)

Last year, a friend of mine was waitlisted at Columbia. He was interviewed by a Columbia alum at Westin (LOL). He told me almost anyone who applied to Columbia got an interview. If you didn’t get one, most probably the alum isn’t at BD anymore.

UChicago doesn’t hold interviews in BD.

Yeah thats why I was confused… I thought everyone who applies gets an interview. I guess the alumni left. And everyone I asked said they got interviewed by the same guy at Westin, so maybe there is just one interviewer in Bangladesh.

This is all they have…and I guess they are supposed to send out the 3000$ scholarship notice with the application, or in a few days after you receive your decision.

I’m still bitter at not being able to attend just because of the money. so effing bitter.

@Eatyoualive: There is this finaid thing u can apply for in minerva, did u see that? Its in the finaid menu, asks for css profile n an additional app. U can apply for that, although I dunno how much they would give internationals. Did u apply for the major scholarship?

@Mayisha
To which government student aid program will you apply?

This is from the fin aid application.
What are we supposed to write here?

Anyone need advice? I’m Bengali-American!

Any one from bangladesh applied into HKUST?

@Eatyoualive I’m a 2017’er or maybe even 2018’er…I wanna apply to HKUST but I doubt I’ll get in

How are you guys holding up? Decisions have started coming in…

Best of luck to everyone here who needs it for Pi day !

So, any Bangladeshi got positive news on Pi day?

I heard 1 student got in and another was waitlisted.

Does anyone know them?

I know the girl who go waitlisted. I don’t know the person who got in.

PS I have lost all hope.

Um, i was waitlisted… dont know if i shud  or :(

^Totally mixed feelings bro.We can only hope for better things to come.

The one who has been accepted is Sayeed Tasnim. He is a Bangladeshi-American living in Florida.

@arfxlr8: congrats!! But still getting in from the waitlist can prove tough as MIT takes about 26 from 1000 waitlistees, of whoom 24 are americans!! Still good luck!
