The beautiful game: Argentina vs Mexico in soccer

Soccer lovers might want to check today’s game (in progress as I post) between Argentina and Mexico. While those teams have been known to produce absolutely awful games, tonight’s effort is a dandy of offensive soccer.

If you have the chance, try to find some replays. Argentina first two goals were amazing, and the third goal of Argentina was pretty nice in its genre.

and they are really hot as well, woohoo

nice goal at the end of the first half, so pretty

I watched the U.S. beat Uruguay in the U20’s tonight. Wow, what a game and the Uruguayans did not take it well!

The U20 have been kind of a guilty pleasure to watch too…

Uruguay kind of took things a bit hard, yet I thought they were the more physical team. At the end, too much whinning not enough playing. Although that header off the post with about a minute to play in Reg. and it would have been over…

The American side has some good young talent…

we are going to see Chelsea vs Club America (Mexican club champs) at Stanford this weekend in the new stadium

life is good

Freddy Adu is the second coming.

kidding?

I was watching for Heinze’s goal, but missed Messi’s while I was walking the dog. It was a pretty nice game – a fair amount of offence, and Mexico had some real chances in the first half. It got beaten by two magical plays and a maybe-bogus foul (but the game was being called very tightly throughout).

I see that the FIFA Under-20 World Cup is playing on ESPNU. What is FIFA and what is under 20? I watched the world cup last summer. How is this different? As you can tell, I don’t know much about soccer.
