The benefits of transferring?

when looking at the lower minimum gpa requirments and easier prompt, is transfering from a junior college or state college into a UC better than going right into the four year?
Any help would be much appreciated! :)

There are plenty of individual circumstances that cause the answer to be “it depends”.

However, UCs are generally more favorable to transfer applicants from community colleges than those from CSUs.

I totally agree with ucbalumnus. In my case, I chose to go to a community college based on a full scholarship ride and a paid internship at a nuclear power plant.

Did this work out in my favor? You betcha. I’m making $20/hr as a Nuclear Technical Specialist at a nuclear facility.

It is also a lot easier transfer to other schools IF you keep your grades above a 3.0 GPA and depending on your degree, you may want Calculus 1-2 and Calc-based physics 1-2.
(I learned the hard way and found out that I “can’t” apply to some of the colleges because I don’t have the transfer requirements. Doesn’t mean it can’t be done but they can have expectations as well.)
