Anything better than UC San diego?

If you’re looking for academics, D2 is not for you (UCSD is fantastic, but an outlier).
There are many, many more great choices in D1 and D3

Of course but generally D1 is too competitive and D3 is too small. I like the diversity and resources of the “large” campus

Way too broad of a statement, pardullet. Many factors come into play, including your intended major. If you’re looking to study engineering, Colorado School of Mines is one of the best. And the athletics are also very strong. This is a good list compiled by NCSA - they rank schools, by division, on a combo of academics, athletics and other issues.

There’s Colorado School of Mines

Thanks for the link. Very helpful.

Uh, guys, I don’t think 'Mines is exactly the kind of school the O/P is looking for.

There are a lot of really great D2 schools, what is the potential major? That will make a huge difference in what is “the best”.

I have no idea if UCSD is the best overall DII school academically but it is a really good school in an absolutely great location (on the ocean) and they have a lot of very good sports programs. The administration wanted to go DI but the students voted down a tuition increase to fund it.

Golffather, just curious what in the original post makes you think that Mines would not be an option?

University of Tampa is not too shabby.
