you don’t understand bro
you basically have a curfew after 10 at night
although uci students don’t follow such things , if the cops catch u past 11, u’d better have a good reason plus there is no culture here.

I dont understand what you’re saying…curfew from what?

What he’s saying is Irvine doesn’t typically have the reputation of being a traditional “college town” because in fact it is a very safe city filled with many families that don’t like the rowdiness that college students attract. As a result, the cops are pretty hard on noise and the like at late hours of the night.

Well that makes more sense, but I dont understand how they could initiate a curfew.

I’m sure he didn’t mean it literally, it’s just that the cops tend to hassle students and rowdy people in order to keep the families happy in the area.

DC.

10 char.

NYC hands down. You’ll never find a better nightlife.

There’s no way any place beats Boston
Boston is the best college town in the US because you got all the advantages of living in an urban area but its relatively smaller compared to cities like NYC, L.A. and you get the traditional campus experience at all the universities in this area with the possible exception of BU

Boston is honestly not that special. Philly is much better for college kids.

thanks rc251 for explaining

Irvine area likes its quiet. I don’t think nearby John Wayne Airport allows outgoing flights between 10pm and 7am just so locals can get their zzz’s.

Tallahassee. Home of Florida State University.

End of thread/

Top college towns:
East Lansing, Michigan
Ann Arbor, Michigan
Maybe,
Madison, Wisconsin
State College, Pennsylvania

chico, ca
davis, ca
san louis obispo, ca
santa barbara, ca
corvalis, or

I can’t understand how some people consider large cities like NYC and Chicago to be great, “college towns.” A college town in my opinion, would be Lincoln, NE or Austin, TX. Towns built around the college and having strong support for the college.

^ Well some people would hate that. I go to NYU and most people here would hate being in the 'burbs or in a small town/city. They’re here for NY and can’t stand the restraints of small town America, they want to be in the center of it all.

other people prefer small town life and would want to go to college in a town that revolves around the college and caters to students. It all depends on the person. Personally I’d hate to be in Austin or Lincoln, or really anywhere in Texas or Nebraska.

Cambridge

Ann Arbor

Chapel Hill

Berkeley

Madison

Some exceptionally good ones:

Madison, Wisconsin (UW-Madison)
Minneapolis, Minnesota (UMN-TC)
Iowa City, Iowa (U Iowa)
Duluth, Minnesota (UMN-D)
Bloomington, Indiana (IU)
Ann Arbor, Michigan (UMich)
Champaign, Illinois (UIUC)

Some exceptionally BAD ones:
Ames, Iowa (Iowa State)
West Lafayette, Indiana (Purdue)
Lincoln, Nebraska (UN)
Northfield, Minnesota (Carleton & Olaf)

Chapel Hill, North Carolina without a doubt.

Okay I don’t see how Chapel Hill is seen as a college town. From what I just seen on google street view it was more half ghost town/ half college town so maybe. Though still then it wouldn’t get so many votes on this thread, hmm…
