I agree with the Dockers but we have also had great success with the microfiber pants from pretty much any manufacturer. They look great, a bit dressier than Dockers, and wash and wear well. 10 minutes back in the dryer with a slightly damp wash cloth and they are wrinkle free again. We usually find pants for the boys at Kohl’s.

What do the microfiber pants look like - are there particular brands? Are these a lot more comfortable than cotton? Does Lands End have these (we have a local factory outlet)?

The microfiber “khaki” pants my husband and son own definitely have a different “look” and feel from cotton khakis. I don’t have the brand names handy, but one pair is from a travel catalog and the other is from Kohl’s. The Kohl’s pair is a color that is more taupe than khaki.

I’m open to buying another microfiber pair, but my experience so far is that the cotton khakis have a more “authentic” look that I find more appealing, and I think might be preferred by my son.

When my D transitioned from undergrad to medical school, we needed to find a wardrobe of wrinkle resistent clothes (not the jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. she was use to wearing) that she could wear to meetings, clinical experiences, etc. She has had good luck with wrinkle resistent khakis and shirts from Eddie Bauer. I have no experience with the male version, but the pairs she has are great!

BCEagle91–they look more like a gaberdine dress trouser vs a high school boy’s pants that his mom made him wear. They are more lightweight and more 'flowy" fabric. They aren’t “stiff” like Docker’s (although Docker’s makes a microfiber pant"). Our boys like them because they are just more comfortable. They would be similar to what you see professional golfers wearing while playing (just not as high end as what they wear if you get them at Kohl’s, etc.).

^Son is interning in DC and he wears these two styles (Tailored Slim cut and the Tailored Straight cut) from the Gap. He says they come out of the dryer looking good and they don’t look like “old man” pants.

They might not be “dressy” enough, but I wear Nike and Under Armour golf pants. I have khaki, black, and brown I think. I have about 10 pairs of them which I wear for work most days of the week.

A little bit expensive, but they last pretty well and I have had luck finding them on ebay…

I’ve had VERY good luck with the no-iron khakis from Lands End. AND…you can choose the inseam down to the 1/4 inch!! How’s that!! No more frayed ends for kids whose inseams are almost a 30 or almost a 32!!

Just be sure to have an accurate measure of what you want the inseam to be. But, if you do make a mistake, LE will still give you your money back. :)

Also…many of the microfiber khakis are also no-iron…and you can just hang dry if needed.
